Things that go bump in the night...they're always on your mind.

The huckleberries were getting scarce.

Hut sweet hut.

We got water from here. We never saw any moose but late at night I could hear
them splashing in the water....f'ing HUGE splashes.

Nice photos, thanks for posting. That little KODAK EASYSHARE C182 Digital Camera takes nice photos. BTW, where is the gratuitous Becker BK photo?

I think I see where you're going with that post... :D
Let me clarify, Not knowing what the temps were, it seems as if more insultion material might have been necessary. What things would you have done differently?

Judging by the clothing (jacket in right shelter, thick socks in boots) that the temps weren't exactly freezing but to answer your question about what I would do differently: I would also thicken the insulation, not so much against cold but against possible rain. The shelter on the left does look like it'll fall over if a big, bad wolf huffed on it though. :D

I'm in no way critiquing their setup in any way. ;)

Yes these were the first shelters we had ever built. I have camped all my life but always with modern equipment.
Looking back I would have made the shelter larger my legs were outside when I layed down. There was no concern of rain so weather proofing was not needed the temps dipped down to the low forties though. I cant wait to apply what I learned on this trip next time.

Just pullin your leg lecter...yea I am total noob at the survival type camping...but I'm learning.

Cool man, I've built a couple of them, they get better the more you do, like anything I guess. I'll say I'm to the point now where I don't wanna do it just because anymore. For the chance to win a knife though, possibly.

So did you partisipate in the challenge Hanibal? Cuz I kinda wanna know where your going with your post.

That's Dr. Lecter to you, boy! :p :D

As you can see from the many posts I've made since I signed up here (:D) I haven't really been that present on this board.

Will be partaking in the next challenges though!

Need to become a BH first for most of the stuff offered here!

I'm planning on becoming a more active member, if you still want me... :)

I was amazed how tired we got cutting trees down with BK2's, sore hand too. Another thing that blew me away (and you should keep it in mind with your PNW gathering) was the utter destruction of the surrounding forest. We hacked down I bet 10-15 trees and then limbed them. It looked like a bomb went off in the woods. We were in just a random spot so it's not like we wiped out some pristine campground.

A BK2 isn't exactly a tree hacker :p
It is when it's all you have...but seeing how I live in a logging area maybe you should tell me what kind of knife I should log with...I prefer a chain saw. I mean who the F cuts trees down with a knife anyhow.
