A great burden has been lifted off my shoulders....one that was placed there prematurely.

I'm back where I want to be - a knifemaker and a khukuri-lover.

I've been waiting to shed my forum-handle for some time, and it seemed appropriate to do it now. As a knifemaker, I want to be known by my real name. It's a decision I have struggled with for over a year..putting it off until now.

This is still just the beginning for me...

Welcome, Dan. It's a nice place. Hope you like it here. Read the safety thread first.

"Did you used to be known as burafan?"

Now that's funny! Thanks for good AM laugh. I can use all I can get.

"one that was placed there prematurely."

The fault is entirely mine. I asked for a helper and then did not have the time or energy to instruct him properly which was very, very unfair. Anything that may have gone wrong is due to me --

I have caused others, especially Dan and Rusty, to pay the price for my own inability and ineptitude and I feel terrible about that. I guess I need to face a fact of life that I really don't want to face and that is I'm 70 years old, in poor heath with little strength or energy but with a mind that can fool itself into thinking I'm 30 and can do everything a young, strong man of 30 should be able to do.

I'll ask forgiveness for my own shortcoming.

Change is good...

I had a few quarters and dimes in my pocket a couple of days ago. I bought some gum. It was indeed good.

Can I still call you Pen? Or does it have to be...

Dear Dan:

That Dannyinjapan is getting uppity again...

:p

As we all ask forgiveness for all our shortcomings,
some of us being shorter than others don't have so far to fall. :)

Take it easy on yourself UBE.
Life is learning,

for everybody involved.

"The buck stops here."
is a often useful thought,
but it can also be used to place blame where is doesn't belong.

In this case I think 'no blame',
just life,
learning,
moving on.

Be well.

I was called on to teach a beginner's class in my taiji school.
Although I learned a lot as a teacher/guide
(including learning from my mistakes)
I found I was somehow pulled away from the heart of learning,
training with sifu,
even though I still attended some classes.

I was very, very relieved when I was no longer needed to lead that beginner's class.

Ah, so the moniker was becoming a bit pendulous?

as was once pointed out....it was truly "penultimate"...

;)

Good to see your real face Daniel.:D

But do you still consider yourself related to that weird thingy at the junction of the circle and the square? Better be careful or you will leave the lineal thought behind and start thinking in circles.  :p :D ;)

Dan,Pen, whoever you are its good to have someone with your knowledge here with all the great people that contribute to the best forum on the web!

Welcome, Mr. Koster! :D I think you'll enjoy your stay here at the Cantina... Just watch out for the Bruise character:) Fresh starts are nice once you get used to them.

heehee:D:D:D

Danny beat Bruise to the punch! He's obviously enrolled in Bruise's dojo of mirth-jutsu, "Where the pun is mightier than the sword."

What would you rather see in place of my "spinny thing", Yvsa?

:D

I can probably whip up something flashy...

I left it there because most people probably still don't know what it is....

And....it's a spinny thing, afterall.....:p
