I wasn't happy with the shape of the large bowie blade I forged earlier this week. Went back to the forge this morning and did a little rework. The top one is after rework and the bottom one is before. What do ya'll think?

I like the top one better too. Looks really good and should finish out great.

If you are going for a bowie I think the clip (top) instead of the trailing point.
Looks like a real good start.

The top one is very nice!! Not too big a fan of trailing points.

I actually like the bottom one better, but I think Andy is right in that it would look better with a slightly shorter blade.

I like 'em both, honestly. It depends on how you want to finish it up. Either one would be a good start for a cool blade.

Thanks for the input. I have made a number of trailing point blades in smaller sizes and decided to try a large one. The more I looked at it, the more it just didn't look right on a big blade.
I have to admit, I almost took it to the grinder to "fix" it. Would have only taken a few minutes to change the profile with a 36 grit Blaze belt. It took a bit longer to forge the new profile on the blade.;)
When I first started making knives and would ask "how to" questions, one basic answer would show up each time. Practice, practice and more practice. Well that answer still holds true.
When I retired a while back, I made myself a promise to learn how to forge blade profiles and bevels as close as practical. In my case, being my own instructor sometimes SUCKS. At times, all I learn is what not to do.
Oh well, I'll hop off the soap box now. Again, thanks for the input.
