Changes.

Jk,
The only thing that doesn't change is change itself.
Boker is making a reissue of an pilot survival knife that look very much like the little fin. As for the lock back goes. I highly recommend the EKA Swede 88 knife. It comes in bubinga wood or curly birch. I have really enjoyed mine.

God Bless

This is free to Jack knife only, if you can use it. My best wishes.

I think I've got that exact ruler in my shop. Belonged to my grandfather who was a machinist.

How about good old easy openers? This ones yours JK if you want it. Looks like it took a little 110 at some point. Tells a story.

Best wishes for a quick recovery JK. I'm a real fan of little fixed blades and when I retire (which is in a few years hopefully) I'll EDC one daily. Not that I won't carry a slippie as long as I can but the little FBs make a great carry.

+1 Gary.

I use them (including neck knives) quite a bit around here in the country.

Especially useful for those late night walks with the dog up the dirt and gravel roads so I won't have to fumble around for a knife in the dark if needed for a task. There's no light but for my headlamp and the last thing you want to do is waste time or risk needless injury.

I guess that's what I liked the most about carrying the small fixed blade; the total ease of using it. Being able to just reach and grab the handle and pull out and it's ready for use. No having to open anything.

I think your starting a new trend JK. I was looking for Queens on the bay, and there was a number of Queen fixed blade knives there.

Yes, Queen does offer a nice selection of smaller fixed blades. The "light hunters" they call them. While I don't carry 1 on my person on a regular basis. I do have 1 or 2 :D about & use them quite often. I also have a handy little skinner/patch knife in a rawhide sheath, attached to my possible bag, that gets regular use.

FWIW, I also add my name to the "speedy recovery/good luck" list.

Yeah, strange as it may seem.

When my friend Jim first gave it to me, I kept a strait face and did the thank you very much thing. But I thought the little thing was some sort of joke. I was prepperd to toss it in the sock drawer never to see it again. But then when I had my left hand bandaged up and in a splint to hold it imoble, I hung it around my neck, and it became like having a sharp steel index fingernail, that handy. Only after using it did I realize how handy the neck knife thing was.

I know, it's weird, but it's like some sort of awakening to an ugly ducklings inner beauty. But it did get phased out for the Mike Miller pocket fixed blade. Grey girraffe bone and mosaic pins and patined 01 in a pocket size mini chefs knife won out.

Now if only they'd put some nice coccobolo on the hartsook.:D

Here's to GOD's speed quick recovery for you on your upcoming operation, jackknife!.

And I'm with you on the small to medium sized sheathed fixed blades with carbon steel from the 40's and 50's.

Hang in there jackknife, and God bless sir! I will have problems when I reach that age and I don't take it for granted I can still enjoy my knives! Here lately I've been getting more knives, except my GEC or course, that open some what easier.

Hi,

From one old machinist to another, I hope you have a speedy and good recovery Jackknife! I've spent some quality time with a Harding or two and a few W&S #3 and #4's. So I've got kind of an idea what you might be going through. You will be in my prayers.
