Changing loyalties

Anyone check out the latest issue of Knives Illustrated? Nice little article about an Oklahoma barber shop's employees and patrons that only carried Spydercos. Autos, balis, Waved models etc. Neat.

To be bluntly honest this forum is full of kiss ass Spyderco fans who think everything Sal touches is gold.
While they do make some good knives they also make some average ones.
I am not brand loyal. If I like something I buy it and if I don't like it then I won't.

Looks up to see what area of the board I'm in.

Me too - it's amazing how an OP can start a simple, harmless thread about appreciating Spyderco knives for what they are then have the thread escalate to all of use who like Spyderco knives being called called kiss-ass or have the word loyalty(ies) over analyzed. I'm sure the OP was just trying to say the same thing we all think, Spyderco makes a great knife.

I doubt very much that the OP meant to say he is only loyal to Spyderco now. And if he did, it's his prerogative.

Pretty much hit it on the head. I don't buy solely Spyderco. I still buy Benchmade, Kershaw, customs and such, but Spyderco has been the leading forerunner due to the designs that they have and how well they fit me.

It is frustrating why a person cannot like a brand of knives without being a koolaid drinker!

Thanx for the kind words.

I think I would be the first to say that any kind of blind loyalty is not a healthy activity.

I would also say that I'm not interested in having "kiss-ass" customers. I'm not a 'kiss-ass" type of person and I would guess (and hope) that those are attracted to our designs are also not "kiss-ass" people. But the forum is not full of "Kiss-ass" Spyderco fans. We also attract dissenters. :p

We try very hard to maintain a spirit of quality and performance in our products that are appealing to a certain type of person. They might be a cop, (or a cop's daugher ;)), a construction worker, a retired person, a solldier, or a outdoors person. But we make the knives they trust.

We also try to be a model company that is also appealing to a certain type of customer.

I would hope that we could continue to create products of interest.
