Changing the Chris Crawford Etcher from 24v to 12v. Stopping the burn.

If I recall correctly, at least one set of the crawford plans have the 12 volt output from the transformer going to ground.

Nope. The three wires in the output side of the transformer are hot-neutral-hot. If you want 24v, use both yellow wires. One yellow and one black will get 12v. If using the two yellow wires (24V), connect the center tap (black) to ground.

BUT THEN TAPE THE YELLOW WIRE OFF! Don't put it to ground. Correct me if I'm wrong guys, but that would blow the circuit, wouldn't it?

I agree that it the crawford plan was incorrect and agree that the wire should be taped off. I'm sorry if I wasn't clear enough in my post that I disagreed with the Crawford plans.

In the thread I linked to, and threads linked from it, there is some discussion over whether grounding the middle wire is a bad idea or not. I didn't do it and don't think it's a great idea.

If you use a 3-pronged power cord, which is a good idea, the black and white connect to the two black input wires of the transformer, and the green is attached to the chassis/frame of the transformer.

Oh, ok man. Just didn't want someone to have an electrifying experience or burn their house down. Lol.

I have all the stuff for this. I really need to make one.
