Changing Your Carry Based on Activity

Thanks so much for the perspective! Do you practice on large and small animals? Among the equine and food animal vets I have worked with, a Leatherman on the belt seems to be the go to.
I worked in mixed practice for several years before moving into small animal practice, eventually specialising in orthopedic surgery.
I can see where a Leatherman might be useful, but I always found them to be cumbersome. I prefer a small sharp SAK and a dedicated pair of pliers or gripping tool to be more effective; for everything else, I use a dedicated work tool designed for the job in hand.

As I am sure many of you all do too, I carry the same multi tool everyday. I often change up the dedicated folder I have with me, but I always keep my Victorinox Compact on hand. I am a full time student, so I really don’t need much from my EDC. However, when I know I’m going out to work outside with animals (I’m a vet student) or do other hands on things, I am often tempted to carry a larger SAK or my Leatherman Arc. I am curious how many of you all cater your carry to the activities that are out of the ordinary, or if you just trust your usual carry to get things done no matter the situation.
I would say, For the vet office world, you won't need anything more than a classic or the short blade on the Spartan. Beside that i would say most people here carry items outside of a activity's character. For instance
Do white collar tech types need a sebenza at work? For sure not, but they carry all the same. For my needs a small knife does 110% of what I need

Do I need a 3+ inch Lander 2 or a Ti-lite.... Eh, probably not most days. I always carry my SAK Spartan with me and rotate principal blades... It's that one time you need something bigger and don't have it that bites you. I had to work with a technician to put a fender back on a test car a few years ago while doing some testing at a lab in Chicago. The only reason that we could do it was because I happened to have my super deluxe tinker in my pocket and the pliers got the 10 mm bolt back in the fender and got us back to the techs tool kit.... Now it lives in the backpack that I take with me on the road just in case I ever need a pair of pliers again.

That's a deluxe tinker. The regular tinker has 2 layers. The super tinker is basically a regular tinker with scissors added. It has 3 layers and it doesn't have pliers. The deluxe tinker is the one with pliers. It has 4 layers.

The mechanic is a discontinued model with 3 layers. It has pliers but no scissors. And a back side philips driver. There is also a discontinued Jr. mechanic with 2 layers. It has a knife with a combo tool and pliers.
