Just wanted to say how amazing the latest Chaparral is. I became an instant fan of Spyderco in 2008 when I purchased the Delica 4. Some time ago I misplaced/lost my 1st gen Dragonfly and wanted to replace it with something a little bigger and Spyderco answered! I won't go into details since there's already reviews, but for me it's the perfect EDC folder.

I admit I was a skeptical with it being manufactured in Taiwan, but everyone is right, the fit and finish is the best I've seen. Bring on the Mantra 3!

Yep. The Chaparral Lightweight is a FANTASTIC knife! I made the mistake of purchasing one before I picked up a standard Delica. It kind of ruined the Delica for me. :( The Chaparral can do everything a Delica can do... But has; better steel, smaller pocket presence, deep carry clip, a better FRN pattern (in my opinion), has a finger choil, and feels better in the hand (again in my opinion). It's always in my pocket at work.

If they ever come out with a CRUWEAR version of the Lightweight, I'll be all over it (I want to see how a tough, easily sharpened steel does when it's that thin). If they come out with a Wharncliffe CRUWEAR Chaparral, I'd probably faint. I'd also like to see a compression lock, G10 (peel-ply or shred carbon fiber would be even better!) version someday too.

The frn Chap is excellent!

For office edc especially, I rotate in other stuff but keep coming back to the Chaparral. First the carbon fiber version, now the lightweight.

I love the color, the thin blade, and the light weight. I think it's a great knife, and slots perfectly between the Dragonfly and Delica/Salt.

I love the Delica. I have an old CF Chaparral that just wasn't as nice as it could be. I rather carried a Delica day in and day out. However, since I got the Chaparral LW, it is light years ahead of my older Chap and the Delica, that I have not carried either since I got the LW. This Chaparral, and the newer iterations, as well, is one of the best knives made by any company.

It's a fantastic knife to carry and use. It is a great design that just plain works well. The lack of emphasis on cool materials like titanium and carbon fiber or the latest and best blade steel is nice in that the focus is on making a great tool to use.

On that note, you might find this useful.

I'm going to pick one up as it appears to present a nice office related EDC for my rotation.

I have had one in my pocket for the last 3 weeks. Great knife. I hope they come out in some other colours. Maybe a nice copper or bronze shade. Still classy and unique.
