As most of you are keenly aware Charlie has influenced a great many of us over the years. From collectors the world over to production companies and custom makers alike, Charlie has a talented eye for what we all desire in a pocket knife and guides many of us to materialize that vision into steel.

Recently my Catch Bit Show podcast mates and I had the pleasure of sitting down with Charlie for some discussion about his contributions to the community and his love for the harness jack pattern. If you have not yet tuned in, I highly recommend. It was an inspirational conversation for me and so I decided to try my hand at the pattern. I have been working my way up to eventually try my hand at a 3 blade Bose pattern diamond edge cattle knife. One of my personal favorite patterns. I'm not quite ready to stuff 3 blades in a frame yet but I figured what the heck, I already have the punch blade for this pattern so let's do a 2 blade harness jack with it! I'm calling this one a cattle punch. It's a prototype for me and I had a lot of fun going from conversation to the finished knife. This one has CPM154 stainless steel and beautiful interior mammoth ivory handles. On a final note I put an asymmetrical convex edge on the punch blade. This should allow for a bit tougher edge geometry for boring and clockwise circular cutting. It seemed to work pretty well on a test punch I ground. Anyway, thank you for looking and thanks again to Mr. Campagna for being a positive influence to us all! Cheers!

I was influenced by Charlie, (in person at Blade Shows past), when most people had little notion who that bearded Canadian American guy was. (He helped me pick out a nice vintage Winchester too...which now resides in Ken Erickson's pocket.)

Good on ya, Charlie. I still have a handful of the knives you sent my way in the collection.

Ya know I probably wasnt sold on the concept of the barlow since it lacks one of my favorite things on a traditional knife, end caps! And despite the efforts of some of the old school members like BigBiscuit BigBiscuit I probably wasnt a full believer until sitting down at the Cross creek dining room with waynorth waynorth at my first rendezvous. Its a story I have told many times regarding what at that time seemed like an outrageous sum for a red soup bone that I was watching on the bay during that rendezvous weekend. Charlie had something better in mind, although both are his brain children. And like many others here, my knife collection has been greatly expanded due to Charlie not only by influence but by his generosity as well.

Beautiful HJ Jason!
I also tune in regularly though most of the technical stuff is over my head.
Charlie has influenced many here and in the knife community at large.
I feel we are all more appreciative of traditional pocketknives because of his influence.

A wonderful tribute to a great person and a fine man as well! I'm proud I met once. I'll look for that podcast and surely wille enjoy listening the conversation.
There's always something useful to learn whem Mr Campagna speaks. All the more when he is with friends! 👍

Hard to find a better ambassador for the knife hobby than Charlie!!! An intelligent, honest, and kind man who has long been a mentor and leader in the pursuit we all enjoy.
It's worth a trip to the Eugene knife show just to visit with Charlie and listen to so many great stories from him. It was an honor and delight to have him on the podcast.

Jason, fantastic knife!!! Great design and the build looks flawless. Very cool punch shape which fits that pattern perfectly.

Real nice HJ, Jason!! Extra great because of the Bose influence on your pattern!!
He was, and remains a great influencer!!
I've rarely thought of myself as an influencer, but instead I am one of the influenced!!
I am always touched by good knife design, and the usefulness such a beautiful tool can have!!
Thank you all for the kind words, Everyone!!!. I am certainly glad my enthusiasm rubs off on some of you; It is worthy stuff!!! the knives, and the enthusiasm!!!

BTW, If I were a real influencer you would see a bunch of pop-up ads, and I'd be monetizing everything like crazy!!! - - - - - - Not on My watch!!😂

Wow — looks great, Jason! Looking forward to more of your explorations!

I listened to the podcast for the first time today, and am now officially a subscriber. Great stuff!

Really nice to hear Charlie’s voice, and to hear his thoughts. He truly is an influencer, in the best possible way. 👍🏻
