Charlie Campagna is an influencer

You're right Charlie, influencer is today an ugly name for sandwich (wo)men trying to convince visitors to buy some pants or perfumes on social medias.

I remember a short boat-trip on a "bateau mouche" in Paris (crowded of noisy Chinese tourists šŸ˜‚ ) during which we were talking about our Italian ancestors and parents . Theses stories we shared, are part of the History of human migrations that have marked Europe and America. History you often tell on the labels you write for GEC . History, yours in the global one, which makes your knives not only a cutting tool but also a symbol.

Influence or inspiration ? šŸ˜‰

So to celebrate all I've written above , it's Sunday and I will go to eat with my family a delicious pizza made by Michele šŸ˜‚

PS : and it's true, Signalprick you've made a great knife with great inspirations

Wow Jason, that is a banger!

Of course Charlie is an influencer. I'd dare say that Charlie has singularly given the knife industry a solid shot in the arm (much needed!) over recent years, both with his knowledge and his ability to resurrect old patterns.

I think Charlie's passion for, and knowledge of traditional knives has definitely benefited all of us, and the traditional knife world in general. I've personally been a recipient of his generosity and goodwill. I hope I get to meet you someday, waynorth waynorth !

Jason, That knife of yours is a masterpiece! It's a pleasure to watch your talents grow.
I'm a big fan of the "Catch Bit Show" podcast. You, Neal and Mike are great together. I'm subscribed! I haven't listened to your episodes with Charlie yet, but they are high on my list of must does!

Well done Jason  I enjoyed the Charlie podcasts immensely, and enjoyed hearing Charlie's voice again :) It was a reminder for me to get in touch :) Charlie was my first pal here on The Porch, and I am proud of his friendship, and of everything he's achieved for the knife world. He's always been extremely generous, and sent me dozens of knives, and other gifts, over the years, all of which I treasure greatly :) When Charlie did his first Barlows, I remember opining that I thought people would still be talking about those knives a century from now, and I still believe that

I haven't seen a single knife of Jason's and thought, "Meh, it could be better". They are all exquisitely stellar, one of these days I might even land one.

Charlie is a beautiful human and one that I've had the pleasure of meeting with on a few occasions. A bottomless well of knowledge and a kind heart, to boot. It's a pleasure to know him.

Watch out calling him an ā€œinfluencerā€. Next thing you know he will be running around in skimpy clothes making Tiktok videos and demanding free stuff.

In all seriousness Charlie is a true treasure. He makes this place and hobby so much more enjoyable with his sage wisdom and kindness. I hope to meet him some day.

Careful what you wish for 🤣

As most of you are keenly aware Charlie has influenced a great many of us over the years. From collectors the world over to production companies and custom makers alike, Charlie has a talented eye for what we all desire in a pocket knife and guides many of us to materialize that vision into steel.

Recently my Catch Bit Show podcast mates and I had the pleasure of sitting down with Charlie for some discussion about his contributions to the community and his love for the harness jack pattern. If you have not yet tuned in, I highly recommend. It was an inspirational conversation for me and so I decided to try my hand at the pattern. I have been working my way up to eventually try my hand at a 3 blade Bose pattern diamond edge cattle knife. One of my personal favorite patterns. I'm not quite ready to stuff 3 blades in a frame yet but I figured what the heck, I already have the punch blade for this pattern so let's do a 2 blade harness jack with it! I'm calling this one a cattle punch. It's a prototype for me and I had a lot of fun going from conversation to the finished knife. This one has CPM154 stainless steel and beautiful interior mammoth ivory handles. On a final note I put an asymmetrical convex edge on the punch blade. This should allow for a bit tougher edge geometry for boring and clockwise circular cutting. It seemed to work pretty well on a test punch I ground. Anyway, thank you for looking and thanks again to Mr. Campagna for being a positive influence to us all! Cheers!

Great work and a great demo.

I am halway through part 1, listening as I was cleaning a knife.

I've learnt a lot so far,the questions are good ones and the answers clear up things I was unsure of.

I was also confused by the TC markings for example.

No idea so many different HJ where made either.

I turned down a few knives recently so I could save a bit and buy a HJ if one came up for sale, now I want a TC as well.šŸ˜†

Personally I would rather have one of something special than lots of so/so that applies to everything. šŸ˜‡

keep up the good work.
