so asked Matt to design and build me a knife kinda a bowie for harder field use tasks but still a fighter sorta style. he didnt let me down. super fast build and ship. cm knife 1.jpg cm knife 2.jpg cm knife 9.jpg cm knife 10.jpg cm knife 11.jpg cm knife 12.jpg 1505029003677215580088.jpg 15050290403841705466356.jpg

What he didn't tell you was I had to make this knife 3 times! I got a bunk order of A2 from NJSB that cracked every buckin time. I learned my lesson and ordered some A2 from AKS and it went off without a hitch.

I like the blade, but the deep finger finger choil seems like it would limit the different grips you could get and the sharp corner might dig in if you really choke up on it. Other than that though the handle looks like a nice simple shape that should work pretty well.
Now my fingers are boney so it may not be a problem for you at all.

Overall I like it and it seems pretty well thought out, and I hope my speculated issue with the finger choil is actually not an issue at all.

Nice work CM ! I really like A2 steel a lot. Looks like your blade got hot as my old Harley pipes in the grinding process. Tell us about the heat treat ? Once again nice job.

Well that stings . It's hard enough making knives on a good day .

Not from grinding... That is tempering colors.

15 minutes at 1800F, plate quench, cryo, double temper at 400F.

yeah it would seem visually as you say, but once steel is on your hand. grips feel very natural and comfortable. it doesnt feel sharp, or a hot spot creator. just got back home for the storm from north texas so havent had a chance to use it yet on real cutting chores. i dont expect it will have a hot spot issue. as a fighter its balanced about perfectly. its a wide blade but very nimble feeling. im real impressed.

Nice design. What's the blade length? (around 7" from the initial picture) I like your dangler sheath. They work very well for general non-urban use.
yep 7 and a hair more blade length. just about 12" total length.
