Charlie Ridge Survival knife

Rock on Mark and RockyWolf! You've shown both guts and class. I look forward to seeing other knives you may design/forge/build together or seperately.

Once again, I think it's COOL that both of you have the courtesy and professionalism to take our comments with a grain of salt and respond without malice.

Gentlemen... that shows class. Thank you for sharing that knife with us!

Best Regards, JT

I have had a LOT worse things said about me here at Blade Forums, James ;)
This style of knife may not sit well with everyone, but it is what Rocky wanted and to me that is what custom building is all about, making something a little different for someone who wants it that way. Besides, the heat treat on this 5160 will make forget all about the "butt" .... :D

Yep. It is a slicer for sure. I doubt I will beat on it the way Bruce did in the link I posted. One thing is for certain: I'm not afraid to do anything with it. It isn't going to be a safe queen. I am going to use the heck outta it! :D

Hmmm... ya don't give a hoot what folks think... ya both talk about performance being most important... the maker says "I made it to cust. specs, thats the point of custom"... ya both stand behind it... I can't find anything to argue with here :D

Guess what gentlemen, you WIN.

No sarcasm here, I mean it. It is no small accomplishment to fulfill a custom order. And certainly a feather in both your caps, if ya both have the chutzpah to stand up and represent :)

I salute you, gentlemen.

I like it as well. It looks really tough and fits the bill as a survival knife for sure. You could pound the hell out of the butt without worrying about "getting into" the handle material and taking a big chunck out of it. Nice work!

Great looking bushcraft tool
Rockywolf, What do you like about the big butt?
(I meant on the knife. What were you thinking?)

It was already a component of this knife. I like that I can pound it into something if need be, such as tent or shelter stakes. I can hold the sheath, which hold the knife VERY securely, and use as a hammer (I have tried this). The butt also strikes my firesteel well. If batoning, I can bang the butt (sounds like a rap song) and unbind the knife. The scales are not damaged or loosened doing this either.

A bump for this. I took it on a demolition project (redoing a bathroom) and the knife helped remove sheetrock and linoleum, chiseled off some tile and even though the edge showed some dings near the tip, it stayed sharp! I used a diamond stone and strop to restore the edge when I got home.
