A few months back I had the pleasure of meeting Mark Wohlwend maker of Charlieridge Knives. Over lunch got a chance to talk about knives, among other things. I also had a chance to handle several of his great blades. Among them he had a small skinner that I loved. Well you guys know what came next. I placed an order with him for one, and a kephart
p) a short while later. I recieve these bad boys today, and had a chance to put em through a little work.
They are both water quenched 1095 w/ convex edges, and matching teak scales and brass hardware.
Kephart-- 4in blade length, 1/8 thick, 8 1/4 OAL. The pin combo is gorgeous, and the teak scales are flawless and have great depth. The blade finish is beautifull as well. Convex edge is sharp as a razor, easily shaving hair.
Small skinner--2 5/8 blade length, 1/8 thick, 5 1/2 OAL. Brass pin, with hollow lanyard tube, and flawless teak scales. Again convex edge was sharp as a razor and blade finish was excellant.
Mark is a great guy, I am happy to have him as a friend. He makes some killer blades, at very good prices. His stuff seems to fly under the radar a bit round here, but I strongly urge you to check him out. You will not be dissapointed.
Here are the blades.
The skinner blades sheath was made by Mark, and the Kephart sheath was made by one of marks friends, James Williams. Leather was top notch, both are really well made and retention was great.
