Great Pic's and write up Fes! Bet your son had fun with that trout on the line. They are fun fish to catch but the only way I will eat them anymore is smoked. Sure do like the look of all that green, can't wait for spring here!

Fes, I always enjoys those pix of yours and that country. My wife and I talked about seeing that country one day. By the way I thought all you had were brown trout in that country. Nice to see that good rainbow

HUNTER....Very funny you should say that !!..After 30 plus years of fishing this area, this is the first rainbow that weve seen caught here..NZ produces some very big rainbows ...FES

Great post and a great way to honor this gift with such honest tasks!

It looks like between you and your son, you made a good haul.

This photo is wonderful....

Hmmm, so this is evidently something people know. And now I do, too!

They are related to aquarium fish called a Barb
O-kay, I know about those, anyway. I've always liked the looks of Barbs, but not more than Tetras (the cardinals and neons were most of the Point of my having a tank, way back when....)

Back to Jack:
Just going through some old photos earlier, came across a pic of me aged 15 with a 1lb roach! :D Sounds ridiculous that you'd even bother taking a pic of that now, but in the 70's the rivers were so polluted here that there were old guys from three camp sites away travelling over just to talk to me about it. I'd post the pic, but ....
Maybe just point us to which publication it was featured in? ;)

:D Fortunately it never made Angling Times! :D

I have to say it looks a real tiddler on the photo. I asked my mum to take a pic of the fish, so of course I got the fish, me, the riverbank, the campsite, sky, and practically the next county! :D

Its all about regional lingo. I had a friend that went to New Zealand and at dinner he asked for a napkin. Apparently he was in effect asking for a feminine product. Isnt the term Serviette for something you wipe your mouth on there?

Holy Mother... I need to move to NZ!!!

PUUKKOMAN...I take that as high praise..If you take a stag from this country (The BADLANDS) it is indeed a trophy regardless of the quality of the head..The man in the picture is my best friend,he is 52 summers young, weighs 70 kilos wringing wet and was a deer culler here,he is pound for pound one of the toughest men i know..tough country breeds tough men....he wears on his hip a Case hunter, sharpfinger and a Ralph Bone..gifts from me out of respect..

AKA DAVE....Indeed our lingo is quite different...when it comes to wiping my mouth ,i prefer to use my friends shirt sleeve!!...... FES

Thanks for the review, FES. Great to see those knives in good use. As always - the amazing landscape is really nice to behold :)

Always thought NZ was an astonishingly beautiful country. Just wish my folk had had the good sense to emigrate when I was a kid! :D

Thanks Fes, good for your boy! That's some mighty nice wilderness you have over there!
