Charming new GEC

Looks good...are they calling it a cattle knife?

Schrades were made in Walden, NY from 1904 until 1958, IIRC, when they moved to Ellenville, NY. In 1973, they quit putting Walden on their tang stamps. There was another company, the Walden Knife Company, also in Walden for many years. Some form of the Schrade company bought the name for sure, and perhaps the other assets of that company many years ago. When Schrade closed in 2004, Taylor bought many trademarks of those old NY companies. Apparently SMKW owns the Walden Knife Company trademark at this time. However, a GEC is a sweetheart by any other name.

And Camillus and Ulster were two other NY cutleries with complex intertwining relationship with Schrade. Complex is indeed the byword in this case. Schrade collectors have a subforum in BF, and that repository will lead you to other links, if interested.
