Hey kevin, orange look good on ya!

Rolf, no I do not. Is that just a stockman pattern? I do have a stockman in ebony by Robt. Klaas that was a nice knife at one time. It suffered a bench grinder death sometime in its past, not by me though. I do plan on putting a new blade in it at some point.

Bored at work....

You know when Daniel's been laying low all day, Squatchy doings are afoot.

Glue sniffer. ^
Zander- Get an AGR Cowboy or Rancher. This is A. G's design on a sodbuster-like knife. You will love it Broh.

To continue the other "chat"...

Bako/Lycosa, no not a Bastinelli fricky, a BBR2 model folder... can't wait :D

I'm actually going to start to thin my stash a bit.. I need to focus on Japanese inspired blades again/more and get rid of some of the extra fluff.. I still will collect folders and some bushy type knives but not any sweet knife I like... MUST FOCUS.

What's up for tonight.. Wed... My wife just brought in a tequila mixed drink, nummy! Her shift with the 2 boys while I tweek out on the computer...

Nice! I'm anticipating a new Mule in the mail sometime this week.

You think I'll have trouble drilling the holes in the handle out to .375"? I'm thinking of tricking it out. Or, leaving it as is, for posterity's sake.

What thinkest thou, O Sloth?

Drilling hardened steel is not an easy task. It requires carbide bits normally, and watch your speed and feed, you'll burn up some expensive bits.

I've been scouring the webz for a pic of a Jimmy Lile tanto in aikuchi fittings. I have it in "Knives 2011" but have not been able to find it online. It has an ivory handle and curly maple saya. Anyone know which one I'm talking about? It is the inspiration for my own tanto project, I'm really drawn to aikuchi fittings on the smaller ones, although a wakizashi in aikuchi fittings would be pretty badazz!

Diamond lapping compound and a reamer?

I tend to like modern blades and guns, but I certainly appreciate the artistry in the traditional stuff- especially Japanese knives. Someone has a Phil H Sr. in the X for 550 bucks. Why no takers?

Xander I looked it up, cool knife! I have knives 2011 too... I'm in the back of the new one.

trouble Bako? heck yeah maybe impossible!!! ok pretty tough even with carbide

FBC that orange is looking good!

Sloth357 I have some good stuff coming up... look out! :D

gotta check! maybe they need a pile of squatch hair or something!

maybe on the diamond/reamer... how big are they now? good idea!

Just looked, I think it is an unusual one but a Hartsfield Strongboy would probably be gone in minutes.

I don't buy tiny knives just because of a name... Phill was skilled, no doubt. But his name sake is really what it's all about. That knife on the X is meh to me...

Bako, I'd trick it out.. It's a MULE! Mod it and work it! Drilling it might be tough, I can't recall how hard he HT'd those, but Farid is definitely a mad scientist and his HT methods are a bit of a "secret"...

D- WHAAAAAA? I'll save some skrill for "what's up next.." :) Just don't hang me out to dry too long :)

I agree, that one just doesn't do it for me.

next - I owe you some Bali info soon, just need a day to finish it up. Folders are the next big project and we'll all have to talk massive cleavers soon too, they could be cool.

I was asked to do a Backpacker run too and am working on some... I'll have extras for special ano work, etc. These are a hair thicker than the last batch at .090"

Daniel, definitely send a picture of your Bali to Ed at Art Knives and tell him you're the one whose knives I was showing him last weekend- he really wants to see it.

The Mule has 3/16 holes in it, if I recall.

I'll do that for sure!

Heck I don't know on the holes, that is new to me. I do know a small jump is easy with a reamer.

Bako, I'm thinking you might be able to get a good portion of the material moved with some high speed diamond abrasion, its a pretty high tech process, cost can escalate quickly with impromper set up and can be dangerous. Basically, its a hand held dremel with a small diamond burr run at full-tilt-boogie and the chances of broken bits is high and them flying at your pretty little face is high!

I started another carving knife this morning, this one is going to be a dedicated carver, so it is designed accordingly. 15N20, plate quenched only. Got good results from it too! This one ig gonna be a little slicer, its .060" thick and I put a drawn swedge on the spine. Pics tmorrow
