I just got the new Smoky Mountain Knifeworks catalog, they've got factory seconds for $14.99, I'll let you all know how mine looks when it arrives. At that price, it will be a nice tool for behind the seat of my truck.

Well, "it" arrived today! It seems that along the way it quit the Marines and turned into an Air Force type survival knife! I can live with that. The "cosmetic defect" appears to be how the primary bevel is ground. Apparently when this particular blade got loaded into the grinder, it didn't seat properly in the fixture, because the grind line is about 1/8" closer to the edge than it should be, making the edge geometry reminiscent of an axe. I'm a sucker for anything that needs tinkering, I'll regrind the edge and have a good knife. Caveat emptor!

mine turned into a m3 bayonet, still very sharp, guess for the money will hang on to it

alco141-LOL! I reground mine, then used some industrial metal blackener to recolor the blade. I think it's actually better than the AF knife I paid full price for. I'm happy!
