Cheap fixed blade.

Something like this???

I have one of this knife with a forged blade. I got it from Kellam knives (nice folks to do business BTW) It is a very keen cutter and at $14.00, it's the deal of the century.

Those knives are Frost Cutlery, and are junk. You would be better off setting your money on fire, then to buy that junk.

Have you used one? I've heard nothing but praise on the Steel Warrior brand. Keep in mind that Frost Cutlery is not a knife manufacturer, they are an importer. They import knives from different factories. They also sell knives under different brands. Frost, Steel Warrior, Hen and Rooster, Buck Creek, etc. Don't get me wrong, the worst "knives" I've ever seen had the Frost name on them. I wouldn't use most of their cheap folders to open a letter. But I've seen a lot of praise for the Steel Warrior line, and am curious as to whether you have at least handled one.

Found it by googling. It is 440 stainless, 56-58 RC. This most likely means 440A. It LOOKS well constructed, but that is neither here or there. If you can afford to experiment pick it up and tell us about it. If not, there are many knives in a similar price range that are better. I would provide the link but it is currently a live auction. Search for "STEEL WARRIOR RAMS HORN SKINNER KNIVES KNIFE " on the bay. Just remember, you get what you pay for.

I agree in that I too have heard at least a dozen or more reputable forum members say that they are cheap, but still a bargain for the money...Almost impressed with Frosts step up in quality...Now I have not handled one myself...but If I saw one somewhere in person I would buy it just to see for myself...(I say in person because I would not want to pay shipping for just one of those knives...)

I have mixed feelign sabout them so far, lol...but I can honestly say I have not heard anyone who owns one that its total crap...;) It might be worth a try...

If you want one I think smokey mountain sells them too...

Or...if you wanna drop like $70-$100 on a set of them, as well as a few different slipjoint patterns, then www.cutlerycorner.net has a live show that sells knives...you can watch that to see them "explain" the knives...if nothgin else it gives you a size comparison in someones actual hand...the show won't help you much more than that, but I still find it fun to watch when I am very bored, lol...
