cheap fixed blade?

If you're willing to part with an extra $20, go for an izula by esee.
 
Those Moras (never held or seen one in person) look awful thin and flimsy for battoning through firewood. I'll take your word for it but they're butt ugly.

Mybe they're like a VW Beetle, you grow to love the little buggers. :)
 
I am sure that most any of the knives mentioned would do a great job,,I recommed the Cold Steel Roach Belly,,,under $20,,good strong blade,,sharp as any I have seen,,though I have never tried battoning wood with it,,I think it would do jjust fine,,
 
yeah i would love to get a kabar, but i dont have the money, how much is the short one?

Make sure you like the way the short ones fit in your hand before you buy. I love my Big KA BAR. I HATE the short ones. the grips are skinnier and dont fill my hand at all (I have big hands).
