Cheap/Inexpensive knife appreciation thread.

let me start off by saying this is the "cheap/inexpensive knife appreciation" thread not the "slam cheap knives because they dont compare to my nice knives" thread.

I love cheapy knives because there are so many that come in all shapes and sizes. im talking like 20$ range or less. i know some people have a soft spot for cheapy knives. i like to view them at artwork in way and enjoy collecting because its not so expensive and i like the looks. post some pics of yours and lets see what you got. ill get us started.

now you try

$20 or below, so can I praise the SAK? :D Everyone should have one, they're built with quality, look nice, are readily available and won't break the bank. Seriously, lose one, (which I did recently, very mad about, it was my first knife!) get another at any store for a great price. Break it, and Victorinox has their warranty. Blade steel is kind of soft, but hey, not everything can be premium stuff. Its easy to maintain an edge though, and it stays pretty sharp for a while, depending on how much you use it. Seriously, the Victorinox Huntsman is one of my favorites!

This knife punches way above its weight when it comes to value, for $13.98 it is just unreal.

A knife i got at Big 5 about 3 years ago. The Ruger Super Redhawk 2. 8cr13mov, g-10 scales, liner lock , semi-serrated 3 1/4 blade. Built like a tank though. Really a stout robust folder. Has never failed on me.mine's beat up pretty badly.. Ill post a pic if i can figure out how (im new here and im on a mobile at the moment.).

It's liner lock made in China out of mystery steel with teflon washers. I use it as my kayaking knife. It's held up very well to salt water and is smooth as ever, which is a pleasant surprise. I won't lose any sleep if it ends up in the drink (like its little bro did).

I love my Opinel. It's my dedicated in-house work knife. I also still make pocket time for my Kabar Dozier.

I picked up the Victorinox Bantam for $12. It is an effortless EDC. Lots of utility in a lightweight package.

I could honestly handle every knife task outside the kitchen with a Mora, SAK (I carry a Tourist for the corkscrew) and a Tramontina machete. If you need a bigger folder an Opinel or Svord Peasant. Throw in one of the Kershaw Ton series or a Chill if you feel like you HAVE to have a one-hander and you've got a darn decent, and really useful, collection for under $100 shipped (I'm guessing).

Kershaw OD2! Fun little knife I don't carry it too often any more as I've progressed to somewhat higher end knives, but the Kershaws OD1/OD2 have a sweet flipper and are very fun little knives.

YES!!!! Some love for the OD-2. It was my first real knife and what got me started into this addiction.

Here are some pics of a black-bladed one I'm currently trying to sell.

It's Kershaw Tremor; an incredible knife at that price point. I gave mine a few subtle mods to aid in function...

Choil!

Opinel #8, pure win for $15 bucks and what an excellent performer! If ya wanna slice & dice this is the folder to do it.

I call this the "natural use" puh-tee-nuh... ;):D

As mentioned above, the mighty MORA knives are just flat out incredible; the quintessential fixed blade knife brand that every knife nut should own at least one blade from. Gotta love their laminated knives too!

The carbon steel Clipper companion (bottom left) was $12.99...

$4 over your limit, but I just bought a Cold Steel tuff lite mini. I haven't received it yet, but I'm expecting it to be great! :)

I'll be using it for carving so a 1 1/4" wharncliffe blade should be sweet.

Gotta agree regarding the No.8 Opinel. Just a fabulous knife for the few bucks they cost. If you don't have one of these you really should consider one. I love mine in carbon steel. Came dull, but I've never been able to get any blade sharper. And absolute laser cutter. Genuinely scary.
