Cheap(ish) titanium to practice flaming

Hey all I was wondering if anyone knew of a source for some titanium sheets or cheap knives or pretty much anything that uses titanium so I could practice on without messing up any rather expensive knife scales.

Check out Ebay for scraps or drops. Be sure to get the alloy you plan on working with later,most likely 6al4v or Grade 5. Each grade will color differently.

Clean is key with heat coloring and Ti cleans well with window cleaner... or go the other route (clean first still) and lightly oil the whole thing with something like WD40 before coloring.

I made a knife and colored then sanded it off many times... lol more Ti may have been a better solution! The color layer is hard to sand off.

Ti is usually sold by the pound and never really cheap... but a small amount will not cost as much

Thank you Mr Fairly for the advice. The knife in question is a zero tolerance. Any idea what kind of titanium they use? Googling has turned up nothing

Glad to help...

I'd say 98% of the Ti used on knives is 6al4v/Grade 5. I have used tubing for handles that was a different grade but that was about it.

I forgot to mention Alpha Knife Supply, they sell Ti in all sorts of smaller sizes and are a very reputable seller.
