Cheap knife to leave in truck?

I leave a Custom Ranger RD 4, an Alox SAK Farmer, a Customized Delica, with green G-11. I also have a Victorinox Rescue knife, a Gerber Multi tool, and a Leatherman Knifeless Fuse. These all live in my truck.

there are some flaws tho, since there are no outward dents at the end of the handle the knife can swing out of your hands when your chopping.
It happent to me and the point of the blade went straight for my shin and missed by an inch and cut through my jean. My god was i greatful. one of those moments where you just stop and breath and be thankful :)

Hey SanitySource, use a lanyard wrapped around your thumb and going around the back of your hand. This way the knife will be firmly secured and will not slip off your hand.
I also noticed that the GI tanto has a tendency to slip out of my hand when chopping. by using the lanyard I no longer have this problem. I use a loose lanyard, and when I need a firm grip I just make the paracord wrap around itself a few times to make it shorter. I'm not sure if Im being clear here. but hopefully people will understand. sorry for my poor english.

A bit of overkill but I keep a Fallkniven F1 firesteel and LM Wave in the truck in case I have to rescue Bear Grylls:)

One not often talked about but one I like is the Marttiini. a Mora style knife I like it's rubber handle for grip and the finger guard. When your hands are wet these make for nice features. Smokey Mountain has them for well under 20 bucks.

Another vote for the Bushman. I've been abusing mine for 8 or so years now. Liked it enough to make it a leather sheath for it to ride in. I think the materials for the sheath cost me more than the knife itself:foot:..but it's worth it:D

I know paracord is a popular handle wrapping martial for the grip. However, i find it to be a tad thick for my tastes. I wrapped mine in waxed nylon leather craft thread. It makes it grippy even when wet, and I have needed a short piece of strong twine-like material more often that a cord type material. I think I have about 40' wrapped on that handle:P

I like the Bushman as a cheap-use knife myself, though not as much as the Mora.

For a better more money from SMKW, you could get a very good price on the Kershaw Outcast at sixty dollars---thin out the edge and you have a wicked all-around use big knife in D2.
