• Happy Thanksgiving to all of you! I hope that you all have something to be grateful for this year and for many years to come
  • America has reached 250 years, and I am grateful to be here, in the best country in the world. Thank every one of you who helps make this country a better place, those who have gone before and risked it all, and those who've paid the ultimate price to make the United States what we are today.

Happy Birthday America! Let Freedom Ring for all time!

I changes the blade in my recipe saw today and was ready to throw the old one away. Then I decided to make a small knife out of it instead. I will put a little sheat on my walking stick and carry this as a back-up. It throw sparks like crazy and took a wicked edge. It's a Bi-metal blade but I don't know what kind of edge it will hold. I just put some traction tape on it for a grip. Feels good in the hand. If it works well I will save some more blades. This one is 6 inches over all.

Its funny how much we talk about the perfect knife etc, but in all honesty, one could get a lot done with a simple makeshift knife like that!

I love to tinker with stuff like that and it helps to not have a job.:D (retired)

I'm glad I was not the only one. They get horribly sharp. I did one out of a large industial saw blad some years back and am now wondering what happened to it?

I am doing three with power hacksaw blades but the are awful hard steel and until I get a decent belt sander, it goes pretty slow.

i usually make firesteel strikers out of mine.

i grind the teeth off of the bimetal strip, but leave the strip attached. at a nice sharp ninety degree angle, i've found that these throw spark showers rivaling the corona carbide machete sharpeners.

i've also made a couple of blades from them, i made one into a stick tang and sunk it in a little pine handle for one of my first knives from start to finish.
