cheap knives on Ebay

Gary777; I must underscore the serious danger to your fingers incurred by the use of a liner lock which is so inexpensive. The interface between the tip of the liner lock bar and the tang of the knife is very difficult to fit properly. Sometimes even knives selling for $100 or more have rather poor functioning, but probably safer, liner locks.

You should be aware of the A T Barr spine whack test. One way to do it is holding the knife by the sides (scales) so that your fingers are out of the path of the folding blade, and whacking the spine on the edge of a table. If the knife folds, it fails the test.

Be careful. Walt

I have been told that every maker knows the value of his product. If thisis true, I would be led to believe that the $1.80 knife is worh approximately $1.80 !

Good point. As a good example, my MOD Trident fails the spine wack test every time! First time it failed, my jaw dropped open...I just couldn't believe an MOD would fail. I'm just glad I had the sense to keep my fingers out of the way even though I was so sure it wouldn't be folding up on me..

Walt,
that is a good point. I will have to try that.

Paracelsus,
you made some good points. I am new to knives, and am here to learn.
I never knew what a "liner lock" was until now, and am more concerned.
