Looking for a cheap light use folder.
Browning Barracuda or Gerber AR?
What are your thoughts?

the question becomes if you want a one hander and cheap... really cheap and good quality for what you pay is the crkt wrangler, sells for 20cdn in my local... but it's a nail nick opening lockback.

otherwise "cheap" is the CS voyager line. knock up the price to what most of BFC considers cheap and you have about 1/2 of spyderco for selcetion, mainly the delica and endura in frn.

I've got a great slipjoint that dates a bit, was under $10usd when it was purcashed, and I got it on a contest here. 2.5" edge length, 3" blade length, lambsfoot shape slipjoint.

Older design CRKT folders are running in the $20-$30 (USD) range. Dont settle for a nail-ripping lockback when you could have a BladeLock.

Ka Bar Dozier, no question. A lifetime of light use for $20.

A little smaller, little cheaper, not as smooth - CRKT Mo Skeeter.

kershaw vapor.

It is an all stainless steel frame lock, the quality is better than on some $100+ knives.

Blade is 440A with excellent heat treat and edge geometry.

My favorite choice would be Buck 110 at Wally World for $30. Check it out while youre looking at the Vapor,Chive and Gerbers.

Kabar Dozier. Three different blade styles and AG Russell sells them. Two good reasons for buying that knife.

In ascending order of what I paid for them; kabar/dozier folding hunter, vic trailmaster, vaporII, delica, endura. Unfortunately, they do not fall into the light duty category you specified. All are better than that.

I've got a Gerber Harsey AR II that I use in my rotation.

I like everything about it - design, weight, blade length, blade geometry. Unlike the AR, the AR II has a secondary lock on the frame. The steel is the only questionable point. It's either 440A or AUS8 depending on who's talking. But for light - med use its just fine.
