After looking at very expensive ring flashes,or dual macro flashes ($600.00 + or -,I decided to try a simple system for real close pictures!!I can make the others in a light box or other ways. This is a very simple $20.00 cost here, probably less in the US!!I bought 3 headband 12 LED lanterns for about $5.00 each, and 9 AAA batteries(3 for each lantern). For the test I used one of the elastic headbands for the three lanterns, and put those round the 35mm Olympus macro lens on my Olympus E330,directed the three looking inwards toward the lens field!!I will refine the holding system soon!!Now I know it will work ok!!Hereby some very close pictures, handheld(no tripod).
First a damascus switchblade blade very close up,and a switchblade safety and inside button lock, wit lithium grease(black)visible, fingerprints, and some minor defects too!!Next a model locomotive's gear 1/87 scale(HO)taken through a glass (from my collection).
This is the looks now before I cut and make a better mounting on the E330,or the E3 with which I took these two pictures!!
Thanks for looking!!Maybe it helps improvise to some fellow picture taking knifemaker!!
