Cheap Sharpening Method

When I was a little kid, back in the late 40's early 50's, my old man did the coffee mug thing. Drove my mother crazy, since he'd do it in public at a diner. But so did a lot of the working men back then. The top edge of your car window will work in much the same manner.

Don't need gadjets.
 
You could also run out and find yourself a vaguely flat rock

Even cheaper than the Coffee mug, and all-natural to boot! :p
 
A set of Croc Sticks/Turnbox Sharpener will run you around $15-$20, and works pretty good.
