Cheap spyderco

So why haven't you just exchanged your problematic Tenacious at the vendor you purchased it from. Just explain that you spend a lot of time Spine whacking and you would like them to test it for you. Then you can join all of the thousands of Ten fans.

If it makes you feel better I have one as a car knife and just for you I pulled it out and whacked it a few times on a log, no problemo, no slip, no release. Really, you are having a unique experience.

No, I'm not. Every person I've seen test the Tenacious' lock has the same issue. The Tenacious' lock is weak, and quite frankly, poorly designed. It is my opinion that this is not up to Spyderco's standards. I intend to buy many more knives from Spyderco, who is quickly becoming a favorite company of mine - but I'll be avoiding the knives in the Tenacious line (and liner locks in general).

It's hard to see whether or not it fails it in Vinull's testing, but my Tenacious also fails overstrike tests.

Should have known better than to click on that, it starts out with a stabbity steel plate. Perhaps lay off the videos and by all means don't exchange your knife, what else would you have to complain about?

I cringed looking at the video. What people are expecting from knives (especially budget knives) is getting absolutely ridiculous.

I agree, ridiculous. My test video would involve whine & cheese and the proper use of a knife.

The tenacious is a great entry level Spyderco. That video is ridiculous, even though I only watched about a minute of it in various spots. Run a para2, millie, zt, or whatever else you want through those tests, and they will probably fail, too. How many times in life will you say, "hmm, I think I need to cut off corners of this metal plate with my pocket knife... or maybe whack this log with the liner lock portion of my handle."? I don't get these tests.

Wow, I'm kind of shocked that nobody has recommended the dragonfly! I would look at the h1 salt version too! I own it and its one of my favorite knives. You can find em for around $45.

The Cat G10 is my favorite in the tenacious line (its also the only one withot 8Cr13MoV). I highly recommend it to all my friends, in fact just since the start of summer 3 of my friends have purchased one on my recommendation. Sure they're not going to hold up to those ridiculous tests but it will more than hold up to daily use, they are spyderco's afterall.

When someone is looking for a knife I usually mention the Byrd line incase they want to go super cheap but then push them towards the Cat. I know atleast 2 more family members will be receiving byrd's as Xmas gifts regardless of what/how many other knives they have.

The Cat is a great choice, but not in the "Tenacious" or Spyderco value line. The Cat is made in Tawain, while the value line is made in mainland China.
