"Cheapest" custom?

I'd like to get a custom knife some day, but I was wondering what the cheapest one was to get my feet wet. Or even other knives that aren't technically custom like William Henry.

The most inexpensive custom knife you will find will more than likely be a small fixed blade. Depending on steel, design, maker, availability, and cash - you can have something made to your specs that will be unique.

Custom folders are a different story, they range in prices dramatically. Have a peek in the Custom Knives Exchange to get a better idea of what is available.

also check the maker's for sale area.

some nice stuff over there and prices are typically very reasonable.

Most Pakistani knives are probably custom or learn to make your own.

Well, that was really helpful...thanks for the great contribution to this discussion.

Maybe check out some of the linerless slipjoints that are being offered - Just as an example, I've seen Ray Laconico list some of his for under $250 (not to mention his fixed blades for under $150). Good luck and happy hunting!

I just bought a Hinderer Flashpoint for 150. Nice small custom. My first, to get my feet wet as you said. Great little knife.

Deviant11 makes some nice friction folders for about 160 dollar shipped to you.
G10 handles and sometimes uses guncoated blades.

He designs them with licensed spyderco hole.

He did have some for sale over here somewhere some days ago.

WDZ Knives folder are sold for around 250 bucks for a framelock and carbon fiber framelock. Check out the Saiga.

I should mention I'm only interested in folders. I checked out WDZ (I assume that's Will Zermeno) and they look pretty nice. I can't find the Saiga knife from him though, he doesn't list it on his photo gallery.

Does he have a price list anywhere that I'm missing or would I have to contact him? I'll check the other suggestions out too, thanks.

EDIT: Just saw his forum here, I'll check around on there. Does he make to order too or just put whatever he makes out there? I have no idea how it works.

EDIT 2: And I answered that question myself as well:

Currently I don't do orders. I'm starting to make the stuff for blade now and am not doing any more dealer orders till after blade so anything made that does not go to blade will go up for sale here on the forum. I should have 1-2 done this week and will put them up for sale here in the forum in the folders for sale section. 1 Azrael and 1 infidel should be done by this weekend.

The infidel should be up for sale tomorrow. The price on it runs $300

Pricing on my other folders Saigo, Azrael, Samael
A base folder starts at $250
folder with ti liner and carbon fiber $275
Folder with ti bolster $300
folder with damascus bolster $325
Folder with Damascus blade and bolster $475

I really like his knives... I'm going to be following his threads and seeing what he has for sale in the future, the designs look awesome and I really like knives with finger choils like that.

Bob Dozier sells his customs at great prices, a small fixed blade will run you a little over $200.

+1

I got a couple used from eBay for a good price. I haven't had much opportunity to really use them much, but the knives certainly feel like they're worth their weight in gold.
