"Cheapest" custom?

in a folder under 300 its best to handle or the maker needs a if your not happy return no problems (BTW its not to say all under 300$ are suspect there are great deals to be had too)
folders are easy to make but not easy to make right

fixed blades i have seen from 60-80 bucks in the makers sale

Some of the small-time makers that sell here are a good bet. Also a good bet is Anza knives, those are almost dirt cheap. They make knives from Nicholson files.

Not sure if anyone suggested it or not, but perhaps a customized production knife would accomplish your mission?

I find that many production knives suit my needs quite well, and I get a VERY high sense of pride and appreciation from customizing an already good knife to make it GREAT for my desires/uses/needs.

Just a thought for the budget minded. I have realized that a very expensive knife made by someone else is just that...and while they can be tailored to be exactly what you say you want, doing a few mods yourself can add something really special and unique to a knife...or everything could go horribly wrong.

I have nothing against custom knives...I just wanted to voice the idea that depending on your desires, you can put your own magic into a knife and love it as much or more than a custom.

Ok would you like us to order and pay for YOUR custom knife as well?

Google is your friend.

Gee, I'm so sorry I asked someone to take a picture of his knife. How could I have ever been so thoughtless? I've been to Google, there is a group of pictures from one or two threads. Doesn't mean I don't want to see more if he has any others that he took, or even some with it compared to other knives.

I see you ring true to your name. Unless I ask you, don't reply about it.

Here's the one I bought from him recently. Quality is very good, and it is a tank of a folder.

Will Zermeno makes some great folders for the price. About $280-$350

Highly, highly, recommended... I've got a Saigo, and it's a seriously tough knife. If it's an elegant slicer which you desire, you will probably want to look elsewhere...

Also, back to tanks, you might check out Three Sisters Forge.

jfindon, whatever you do, dont listen to thrustus and buy anything made in pakistan since its mainly all junk. take the advice from the other posters and research some of their suggestions :D

Pictures?

Lots to consider here, thanks.

Are you serious? He asked to see some pictures of the dudes knife. Get over yourself. Hardly a thread goes by where "pictures or it didn't happen" doesn't get slung out like a broken record. And you are giving the guy a hard time by asking to see some pictures of a knife?

Not really a 'custom' folder... a made to order production knife.

If you like the Buck 110, Buck Knife's 'Custom Shop' can build you a custom built 110 to your specifications. The left hand four below are examples of such - all were <$200, though they are a year or two plus old. The lefthand trio are BG-42, followed by a teardrop Damascus blade. The right hand pair are a Bass Pro Shop (CPM154) and Cabela's Alaskan Guide (S30V) special version.

As an example, you can order a nickel silver bolster, walnut scales, with/without rivets, finger grooved or not, S30V bladed, and with a leather holster - for ~$100 shipped. Figure 3-8 weeks. Great knife - custom made - even better!

John Greco makes several variations of a bare bones really tough folder, something that would be pretty easy to dress up yourself if you wanted to. He often sells these on Ebay for less than $100.

i am seriously thinking about a three sisters knife...i am not sure that is considered custom...

In addition to makers who advertise their knives here at Bladeforums, you might consider Anza knives. In addition to their standard catalog models, they'll make a knife to your specs. Here is one they made for me years ago using a mix-and-match of characteristics from different standard models:
