Picked up a Cold Steel Finn Wolf and an Erik Frost Mora, the Craftsman model, I think. Used both last night whittling some shavings after getting firewood. Not really hoofing it when you have matches, the three log system, a piece of firestarter block and some bark in the woodstove, but hey. My list of cheapies have gone up and down in quantity, but I have three more Moras and an old Disston machete. I enjoy using my Barkies, customs and scandis, but something can be said for these el cheapos. Gotta pull my moras out of the tackleboxes and truck, and play with them this weekend in the snow.

There should be a rule, that before you ask "what blade for bushcraft, woods survival" that you have to own a Mora! ;)

I have a lot of more expensive knives than the Mora's but 95 percent of the time when I use a fixed blade, it a Mora. They work just as well for cutting as any knife made. Not for chopping but just pure cutting. I don't chop or baton with my knives anyway so Just hand me my Mora. BTW, I love the Finn Bear as well :D

I do prefer a longer thinner knife for food prep so I seldom use any of my field knives for that. These three see most of the food duty at home or camp.

I've got a CS Finn Bear that I use around the house in the kitchen a lot. For the money, it's a good user knife.

I keep a couple of CS Finn Bear knives around as "loaners".

I had a Finn Bear last year, part of a trade, couldn't get a good grip on it. Passed on getting one last night. It looks like a great knife.

I'd update it a bit- you have to own a mora, spend at least 20 hours dirt time with it being USED, sharpen it, and break it. Then you have a basic, $15 dollar and 2 weekend education in knives that will beat any number of internet reading hours and most survival courses (for the knife part)

Been using the Finn Wolf all weekend, whittled down a walking stick, and just whittled aimlessly while watching the Steelers/Chargers game. Not bad for pocket carry in the sheath, cleaned up pretty well, my old "holey" shirt, and Tuff Cloth, barely any scratches or stains on it. I have huge paws, and while it isn't extremely comfortable, the handle isn't as bad as I thought it might be.
