From the 2nd prototype Tops knives asked me for.

it was the alternative to my Recon XL I pictured below,

reconXL1-s-2.JPG

My ReCon XL I above was a bit more complicated for them to mass produce for a reasonable amount to put out to the masses they felt..

Though they will not be on the market for a while longer,
they will be seen at the up coming blade show at the Tops booth,....
I believe it will be offered in Camo also.. :D
I'm hyped,,,:)
If this works out well and things go as I hoped, I plan on donating more of these to more of the troops out there..
THIS was/is the method to my madness some time ago....:)

I know some guys don't like mass produced stuff and some do...
mass pricing versus one of a kinds in users, EDC

I have found that some guys that use, don't want to mess up or chance losing a high priced knife.. so the alternative to that is??? :)

I'd like to see your thoughts here on the subject..??

Looks like a handful of whoopass. I like the Recon XL 1 the best though. As far as price and using, my thoughts are when I find the knife that I think will do it for me, regardless of price I will carry and use it.

Rock on with your bad self! Congratulations, I hope the project is a boost for you. It's a high compliment and achievement to have a respected manu use (and credit, of course) your design. I have no pseudo-ethical misgivings about that at all, it looks like it's well-made of good materials.

You're a knifemaker. Your relationship with TOPS will put more good knives in more people's hands. Your intent to donate some to troops is beyond reproach.

I salute you, sir  And to be honest, I hope you get rich from it.

Congratulations Dan! I'm really glad this is working out for you. Your intent to use some of the proceeds to donate knives to soldiers is great!

Congrats on the factory collab, Dan! Pretty cool addition to the resume.

Congrats Dan! Just saw the add in Blade mag today. Hats off to Tops for looking at custom designs.
Mace

they gotta make someones designs so I'm glad its from a seasoned maker like yourself there old man:D ;)

Thought I saw that gritty mug of yours;) in the TOPS ad in the latest issue of Blade... congrats!

Guess you better start preparing for the onslaught of custom orders spurred on by that kind of recognition!

Congratulations Dan! It's good to see a knifemaker get the recognition for a design.

I really like the current price they have listed for the XL II, $0.00. They will sell like hot cakes!

Congrats Dan. It looks pretty good. Good steel, good handle material, great design :) now if they just do a good heat treat that would make a really nice knife. What kind of finish are they using on it?

haha.. a great price for sure isn't it :D I think they may be changing that some time soon..:)

Guys Thank you ALL! very much that all means a lot to me, I had to share this news with my Bros.. you guys
I am interested in what the masses are looking for as well as the ones for the one offs..
I'm not sure about the getting rich part ,
but I've learned though a lot of let downs not to count my chicks before the eggs hatch
but I hope that ship comes in some day, I love to do stuff for others and to be able to do more of that for less or even free to those that need that would be great,, :D it sucks having to eat and pay bills,,

I haven't seen the Blade add? bummer is it the June issue???

thanks again :)

Terry

I haven't gotten one yet to look over in hand, hopefully soon..:)

Congratulations Dan,

I know you had high hopes for it, and rightfully so.
