Check out these antlers

The antlers of a mature megaloceros could weigh more than the rest of the skeleton. Would have been a fantasticly beautiful animal to behold. The full skeleton mount at the Peabody Museum here in New Haven is absolutely beautiful.

Well I just saw the correlation between deer antler knife handles and these and said to myself, that would make some crazy handles

I guess for handles, but that is a bit of a stretch. It would be like showing a Lamborghini, and saying the spring of the suspension would be great for forging.

What type of steel is used in a Lamborghini' suspension? I can guarantee that you could sell the knife to the dealership to go with one of their cars for a rediclious price.

$1500 for a oil change...$3500 for tires.... $5000 for a pocket knife sound about right.

I appreciate it as well,,, how many " what grinder should I buy?" posts do we have to wade through for a little diversion? Soooo, thanks,, nice "handle material" link,,,,

Yes Caden, Thanks  I rather enjoyed it too. Due to the palmation it got me thinking about the possibility of using moose antler in scales or bowie type blks. Has anyone attempted to or know anyone that has tried using moose antler for handle material ?? The Irish Elk antlers look more like a present day moose than an elk.

Moose make good handles.

Bull moose say to each other, "Hey Bullwinkle....Look at the rack on that gal !!!"

Thanks guys. The only bad thing is that they died out around 7500 years ago

....and the mammoth died out about 15,000 years ago. I guess they have nothing to do with knives either huh?

Thanks for the post. If anyone has any Irish Elk antler available, I'll take some of it for sure.

No IG - spray painting it green doesn't make it Irish!

Rob!
