I kinda did pay an arm and a leg for em on E bay, but I think they are SMOKIN!!! They are stabilized birch burl. They sure did arrive looking EXACTLY like the picture here. I am gonna have to sit on these for a while till I get up the nerve to start workin em.

Those are pretty cool scales! I can't blame you for wanting to sit on them for awhile. I have a very highly figured piece of black walnut I've been scared of for a while. "May the force be with you" when you do work with them! :D -Matt-

Bruce, do you sleep with your handle material to keep it warm or is there something I'm missing here?  :D -Matt-

This has got to have something to do with Stacy's recent expose' on the buttloads of files and assloads of steel. :D

Nice scales gixxer. I've got some stuff laying around I'm holding onto until I'm happier with the quality of my work....I totally understand where you're coming from. My only problem is that collecting wood is kind of addictive...Just got some really nice curly maple in the mail today as a matter of fact :)

Oh yea, I remember stacy storing knifemaking materials in orifices:eek: !! Speaking of colletcing wood, I have been looking more @ scales this week than anything else! Seems that when you see the stuff on E bay you want to buy em all like there will NEVER be another piece of stabilized wood like it EVER!
