At my buddy's house. He's somewhat of a knife guy and knows high-end brands. He loves my CRK.
He carries a folding razor knife when he's at work.
It was sitting on his table when I saw what it said.
I said: "Buck huh?"
He started laughing and said "Ain't that sweet? I thought it was hilarious when I saw that"
One of his friends gave it to him.
I'm very-much-so against knock offs, but this is just pitiful.
Metal-to-metal contact in the pivot, very off center, bladeplay, 100% lockup, and the blade flies out so hard and fast its damn near scary. Plus, it barely shuts the blade all the way.
Needless to say, he isn't carrying it.
Thought you guys would chuckle like we did. :)

I see where you guys erred. You mistook that as a Buck knockoff.
While it is actually an original B U C K
Butt
Ugly
Crap
Knife

Why not just buy him a good knife? There are some very good knives to be had these days that do not cost an arm and a leg.

I'd donate a knife to the cause but I don't want to accidentally send him something he wouldn't be able to carry/use at work.

I'm thinking I'll give him my Spyderco Tenacious if he shows continued interest.

There's a kid on here that could use a Tenacious to replace his confiscated one...

I'm sorry, I couldn't resist, I'm in a mood today. ;)

There was a kid who's mom took it because she was insistent that he uses it as a weapon! I don't remember what his name was. He was doing lawn work for the neighbors and used it for that.

My brother brought over his bosses knife that was very similar. It was not a counterfeit but it was very similar. enough to have me think its made in the same place. Overall the knife was garbage. But I was very very shocked to see how hard of a hitter it was. I have had tons and tons of assisted openers. And I dont think I have even had an auto that hit as hard as that thing. Nearly flew out of my hand the first time I flipped it. Then it hit me. No wonder it had lock rock from hell. Thing probably bent the lockbar the first time it was fired.

Hey. Take apart that knife. The reason the blade is misaligned is probably one small silicon/brass washer and one large one or none at all, giving the force from the spring deploying the blade just enough torque to loosen the pivot screw threads. Some red Loctite might help. With cheap foreign made or knock off knives like that one, the problem(s) is often asymmetrical parts due to a poorly thought out design. You might make that knife into something remotely reliable and helpful by removing the assist, and replacing the washers for larger diameter ones with the same size hole. 1/8, 3/16 etc... (If the spring is interfering with the washer) ...or even filing the catch on the spring down a bit. Some cheap knives are still good knives simply because of the design..
A cheap knife can still be made into something useful. (Depending on your local knife laws) Just take a 3/16 or 5/32 chainsaw file to the blade or spine and give it some functional, mean looking, steep, big and nasty serrations. Then sharpen the blade with the coarsest, roughest grit stone you can find. I would use a 50-100 grit belt on a belt sander personally. Sharpen it at at least an 80 degree angle. BUTT UGLY and sticky sharp ugly micro serrations that will remain sharp for over a month even if the knife is made from unannealed mild steel. Almost as nice as a good knife  ..

Hmm.. Well, I would like to help the kid out, but at the end of the day he isn't 18 and his mom has more authority than "some-guy-named-bladeboss-on-the-internet."

I was thinking you meant TSA or a cop that doesn't know laws right.
