These are some customs by a local knife maker, they
feature 440C steel and micarta handles, and custom
leather sheath, with built in sharpening stone.
The tacticals feature leather rigs with built in
stones, compasses, and magnesium fire starters.
Let me know what you think, good or bad.

Very nice looking, to bad the sheaths are leather. I bet Eric at Normark can fix that.

I don't know if he can make alternated sheaths, I
have handled a few of these and they are pretty
slick, he makes one with mammonth ivory that is
very nice, KC I believe the run around $300, which
is pretty good for a 3 knife custom set.

WOW:eek: $300 for the set is awesome I think.

Is he taking orders?

No need whatsoever for the whole set but man are they beauties!

They look like great knives and all, but that finger hole is bad news. In a defensive use situation, you could easily break a finger in that hole.

Also decreases the likelyhood of being disarmed.

But I like it for utility as well. IMO 2 of the 3 styles are not even suited for fighting they just have a fighting "look".

If it came down to it I'd rather break a finger than die... ;)

I agree, what's a finger anyway, ya got nine more. These
knives look like rugged users, and they do have a certain
tough qualitity, I need another knife like a whole in the head,
but I may try one of those bad boys.

What is that rig you pictured first?? With all three pieces...the brown-toned rig...with "Wolf" on it??

Those are interesting..., I'd like to have more information on them if possible. Thanks!

Try telling that to Fred Perrin! :)

I think they look great. I would have to hold one and work with it for a while before I gave it the thumbs up though - just like everything else out there! The handle scales look fairly slick - are they?

The La Griffe is a much shorter knife and the finger hole is needed for control and retention.

Does anybody own any of these? Is 440C a good choice
for blade material? I really want one, but I need
someone to tell if they have handled these, anyone?

I agree. I was just saying there are other knives out there with finger holes that have excellent reputations. So, maybe the finger holes on these models might be beneficial as well. Who knows?

Like I said, I'd have to play with it awhile to form my own conclusion.

:)

Who knows? I've never had any finger hole knives. Planning on getting a La Griffe though.

Zozo,

These look very interesting, especially with the accessories built in. Micarta is great, and the finger hole is great, too. I'm not worried about breaking my finger in a knife battle! LOL. THe hole would serve well for SO many purposes besides knife retention...You can open a bottle of beer for one thing, after defeating your enemy with the blade... ;)

I'd curious to hear from the maker what HIS intended purposes for the different features are...the reasioning behind the design. I'm going to link to this thread in the Wilderness Forum. You might want to post these pics in the Practical Tactical forum, too, and solicit opinions.

Cool stuff,

Brian.
