This is my Stepdads custom that my mom had made for him about 9 years ago. I was talking knives with them and he pulled this one out, I was really taken by the feel, I think it about sums up "Bushcraft"..the blade is 4-1/4" long and the handle is bone or antler?? The sheath sucks, but the knife is pretty cool, I am now on the hunt for the maker, as my mother can't remember his name or the town she bought it in??!! I only know that it is made in Vermont and she bought it 9 years ago or maybe longer. I think she said she paid what I would consider a fair price. Its hand forged and has a distinct canadian line. Its about 3/16 thick and I ran it on a strop and its sharp as hell. I already tried to talk my stepdad outta it, he said to go jump up a rope...lol. So...I would like to find the maker, or one similar. Anyways, it looks great (other then some issues like the pin placement and finish) and seems pretty tough, fits the hand well, and takes a wicked edge. What do you think? Gene

Wow that is one awesome pattern. Is it scandi ground?
Find that maker!
Wow that knife AND the cool sewing kit; lucky guy.

The sewing kit is mine...the knife isn't :D Thats why I am on the quest! I also thought you guys would appretiate a sweet woods knife. Oh, the edge is convex to a zero edge...or scandi convex?? Gene

I won't forget, you have one coming if we can find the maker Bro. And you can tell him yourself...lol.
I've been thinking about the design, its like a Grohman on steroids, as pointed out to me in the General forum. Gene

that looks like a grohman knife they are a canadian made knife im sure you know about they are located in nova scotia and make excellent bushcraft knives etc they also supply the edc knives for the canadian millitary anyways the shape of that knife reminds me of them they are not custom but they are handmade .....i guess they are not what you are looking for but they are worth a look on thier own merit if you like that type of knife

I have handled several Grohmans...I like the overall feel, but this knife is different, it has much better lines IMO, it is also about twice as thick. I think that this is slightly straighter than the Grohman from the butt to the point. I think that I like this knife because of the overall mix that it has of several different styles..it HAS a Grohman like profile, it has a convex scandi, very much like the BRK&T Nebula, a knife I love. And it has a nice sharp and thick spear point like my woodslore knife. The handle needs some finishing or polish, but it fills the hand very well, something that I noticed the Grohman doesn't do for me. Gene
