CHECK YOUR BALLS

Yes, This is definately sounding like that AC$DC classic. Some Balls are held for charity and some for fancy dress, the balls in our folders are the balls that I like best!! NOT!!!! I like ones held for pleasure just a little more!!

Gotta agree with RJ Martin about the carbide balls! I managed to aquire a few dozen of them a while back and am using them in my folders. One other point is that carbide GRIPS titainium!! This should keep it pressed in the hole at the right height. Has anyone tried to measure Ti. with a carbide tipped micrometer?? RJ, can you explain this phenomenon??? I just hope over time, they don't wear a groove in the blade!!

Carbide balls have several advantages over other materials. First, they stay round when you press them in, and, because they are so hard, you can press them into a smaller hole. Second, they will eventually polish the tang of the knife, making the action smoother.

there is no issue I am aware of with wearing out the tang-there simply isn't enough pressure being applied to the ball, and, as the ball polishes te tang, the contact area is increased, further limiting additional wear.

the only drawback is the cost, but, if you're striving to make the BEST knife, a few bucks is inconsequential.

Maybe someone here can tell me, wouldn't ceramic balls have to be put in a kiln and fired to achieve their proper hardness? Sounds painful!
