Checked out some Kershaws today

I was just perusing the New Graham site. Kershaw has alot of differant models. I had no idea they made so many various models. I like the Nakamura in clad vg-10. With mokume bolsters and quince handle. That is one fine looking knife. For $112 bucks, how can you go wrong. They are using ,aus6a,440a, s30v, vg10, 440v. I like what I'm seeing. The Gentlemans Folder in vg10 and g10 looks damn good too.

My Blur fired open every time right out of the box. It's not my first AO knife though, I carried a Buck Rush for about a year so that may have something to do with it.

The only other thing I could think of is the pivot screws may have been a little too tight.

I believe they could have been. Also, as I mentioned, the blade are small and lightweight and don't have the mass of my old Kershaw.

The Nakamura's not a bad knife. I wouldn't consider it as an EDC, though. As for the Leeks, they're very nice, but it's usually a good idea to handle the first. For me, the Leeks handle is too small (Not the length, but the depth-top to bottom width, is small for my hands).

If you're looking for a good medium sized A/O, check out the Scallion, but really take a look at the mini-Cyclone. The JYD I's not bad either, but I just find it not nearly as nice to flip as the full size model (JYD II).

If you like a large folder, then do yourself a favor & try out the full size Cyclone (A/O) & JYD II (Flipper, non-A/O).

As for me, I really like the BOA, I just wish it had G-10 scales on it (Or something more scratch resistant).

Good luck with your choice.

Today, while picking up some hunting supplies at Walmart, I checked out some Kershaws they sell. Chive, Scallion, and Leek. They were very tight to open and the assisted opening did not kick in at all. Do these knives have to be broken-in, oiled, or adjusted? I own many knives, including an older Kershaw with assisted opening. I bought it from a knife show several years ago, and it works fine. I presumed it was brand new. I was suprised that these three models were very "sticky", right out of the box. My take on this matter is maybe the blades are very light because of their small size. Has anyone experienced this with these models?

I recently was looking at the Chive and Scallion (I'm going to get the Scallion) at Wal Mart and both fired open perfectly, also my Blackout (a great EDC I never hear anyone talk about!) fired perfectly right from the start as well as a Cyclone i recently purchased. Just my 2 cents worth on Kershaw Quality :)
