Checked out the Condor Hudson Bay with a couple of hawks

Apparently my:

about the sheath issue is being rectified. Thanks FortyTwoBlades, Joezilla and Condor.

Anytime! While Condor has a few more QC slipups than we're used to from other manufacturers, their customer service is a gold standard!

I got my Condor Hudson Bay last year and l really like it. The sheath is nice also, but I was wondering if anybody knows why it is just about 3 inches longer than the blade of the knife?
Thanks!

It's intended for you to insert the knife all the way into the sheath for a secure fit. Much in the manner of Scandinavian traditional knives. This helps ensure it never falls out of the sheath or gets snagged on anything. Only a couple of inches of the handle should be sticking out of the sheath for you to grab onto.

No problem--sometimes the obvious nature of things is WHY they're so easy to miss. One of those hiding in plain sight things. ;)

I got my brother one of these for Christmas & after I played with it, I really like it, alot of knife for the money ! He loves it & I'm wanting to get myself one a little later along with a Condor Mini Bolo or Barong Machete:D

Fixed that for ya'. :p:thumbup:

I have the Hudson Bay and I'm pretty impressed. My knife nut brother in law eyed it up... not saying much... then asked what it cost. I know he plans on buying one. He handled it way too much for casual interest.

Almost grabbed a Kumunga, and might still. Fun blades.

Do it. It's a great knife. I like carrying it when carrying a full blown machete is either not possible or inappropriate. Batons like a champ when needed, too. :)

Please tell more about the Kumunga and how it compares to and differs from the Hudson Bay
Thanks

I have also wondered about the Kumunga, came, and still do come, within an inch of just running out and getting one. Hell, I think I'm talking myself into it right now !
:D
I really Don't need it though. I would have grabbed the Kumunga as it makes more practical sense to me, but I got the Hudson Bay because I am a bit of a Fur Trade buff.

Longer blade makes it more useful for clearing vegetation due to increased reach and tip velocity. A little extra length for batoning, but that's not a big deal really. The Kumunga as a choil for choking up on the blade, also. That's about it in terms of practical differences though. The Kumunga handles light brush better and the Hudson Bay is better in the camp kitchen. :)

If I could only have one or the other, though, it'd be the Kumunga due to its greater range of potential targets. But I'd be happy to be stuck with either.

Ya, and the H.B. just has that ''feel'' to it. Nice chunky blade but never had a weight issue with it. Never heard anything about the sheath again. Sending off an email, might have been forgotten ? People get busy.

Rick was busy with SHOT followed immediately by a week in El Salvador doing corporate stuff. I talked with him on Thursday and he was telling me how much he had to catch up on thanks to that two weeks away. He was working through his backlog of messages and was up to January 22nd when I spoke to him. Give him a few more days and I'm sure he'll be in touch with you. If not, feel free to give him a ring. :)

Kay, popped off a short polite inquiry a couple days ago. I know that people get busy for sure. Leaving it alone now. :)

If it gets to the point where you're really getting antsy just give him a call. If you get the answering machine just try back a few hours later. Easiest way I've found to get in touch with him when it's something a little more urgent. :)
