Checkered Handle Picture Thread

The Ohta knives and the Ogg are beautifully suited to checkering and it shows. The more open style called 'quilting' is apparent on all the pearl examples - which also interestingly feature inset jewells, pins or tons of color. Bill Sowell's example was his first attempt at checkering - it won an award in Atlanta. But the Potier is amazing - he accomplished that fine checkering on curved surfaces (as on the Ogg), and it's perfect - incredibly elegant. A knife like that in my belt back in the 1850's would've meant status - lots of it. That's a knife with an attitude! These are all great examples - thanks everyone, for posting. I'm sure more will arrive soon.

Thanks for starting this particular thread!
Can't add mine as y'all have already seen it and BF won't let me post it twice!!! :(

I wish I could find some good photos of Barry Davis folders with checkered handles, but I can't. They look very good to me.

Here is an image I wish was larger, but it shows a nice checkered handle on a Kirk Rexroat knife.
