I know a lot of you folks use PhotoPoint for posting your pics here. I was wondering how many have used the MovieMaker there? I just made my first one, if you have Shockwave/Flash it's really easy.

If you want to see the ones I just did, click on my Signature Link below, go to and click on "Watch Movie". There are two now, "My Knives" and "My Dream Collection".

I have to warn you it takes a few minutes to load, or it did for me with a 56K modem, but if you got a few minutes take a look and let me know what you think? Or better yet let us know here if you make one also?

CB, thanks for taking the time to look, it's actually pretty easy if you have a PhotoPoint site. If you don't have a PhotoPoint site that's also FREE and easy to settup, just go to photopoint.com and e-mail your .JPEG photos to them, they do the rest.

Once you have a PhotoPoint Album you want to make a Movie of, just click on the pics you want, and then just click on "Make Movie". First you select a "Storyboard" then edit the pics add captions, and pick a soundtrack. Then Preview the Movie, go back and make any changes. When your done just hit the Save Button. PhotoPoint does make it easy.

I was showing the guys on Chat last night, and Kit with his high speed connection downloaded the both movies in about 30 seconds. Maddog Ray took longer to download than it did for me to make the movies.

It takes about 3 minutes for me to download with a 56K modem.

Wow Phil, this is a blast! Thats the neatest thing I've seen online in ages! Your dream collection theme song and knife lineup sure is something! I would love to use this set up on my web site .

Take care!! Michael

Always think of your fellow knife makers as partners in the search for the perfect blade, not as people trying to compete with you and your work!

Ron, Nice work, both the knives and the Movie....very cool.

Thanks Mike.

Now the rest of you guys with PhotoPoint Albums get to work.....I want more movies.

PS, if any of you guys are too lazy to make your own Movie, I'll be glad to make one for you. All I want is pick of the litter as a fee. Just E-mail me.

Maybe I should try that again. I tried the Movie Maker thing with family shots around Christmas several times. Everytime I got to an uploading images page which never went anywhere else in over an hour of waiting. I gave up about six times. Trying again...

Paracelsus

Para, I tried several times with AOL and I can never get it to work. So I use Netscape. PhotoPoint does get busy at times which can slow things down, and you really want to try to keep the size of your pictures small. but it does work.

I always use netscape Phil. I think the site was just super busy between Christmas and New Year. It worked great tonight.

Everyone, please enjoy my feature film: Knives of Paracelsus

Hey Para, looks good, but it looks like you've added some knives since the last time I checked your PhotoPoint site.

Para, I was looking at your Movie again, and you know what would really help is if you added Captions to it so that people would know who the makers are?

Now, you don't have to redo the whole movie, just Login In, go to your Movies, select the EDIT button, click on the thumbnails then on the Caption Box and type in the info.

I think it would really add to your movie.

I still want to see more Movies from the rest of you.

I've been meaning to try the movie feature for a while. Thanks for giving me the motivation to do it. If you want to see what I came up with, follow the "toys" link below, click Watch Movies, & select Khukuris & Kardas. The Dozier one isn't quite ready for prime time.

Good idea Phil. I did it already. Check it out.

However, I started having multiple crashes last night while trying to watch my movie, ending up downloading the Netscape 6.0 which increased my system folder by 50%. Then everything started acting really weird with ghostly windows and stuff. So I loaded a proggy called conflict catcher which did not find anything wrong. So I upgraded to system to 9.0 and then downloaded 9.1 and installed that. Then I had to use conflict catcher to update my new system with my old system profiles. Along the way, my Netscape profiles got messed up in the transition and started causes crashes of their own making me lose connection with my email server. I have finally got back to a stable system again (fingers crossed) but now I don't have enough memory at all. I'm going to have to buy some RAM tommorow. Yikes. I just got back on BFC about an hour ago.

Everyone, my problems have nothing to do with the Movie Maker. It just wants some memory, and as I tried to fix things that did not really need fixing, I made a big mess. Oh well...

You're welcome Brian

But it looks like Para "Ol' Thread Killer" has scared everyone else with his post from doing a Movie of their own.

All kidding aside, Para much better with the captions. Brian I really enjoyed yours. Folks it's really not hard to do your own movies. I'd like to see some more please.

Man, you guys have me very jealous. I have lots of nice guns but only a small handful of knives

I'm glad you liked them, Phil. I realized something, though, when putting them together -- I don't have nearly enough Doziers!

I guess I'll have to do somehting about that at the ECCKS.

Phil: 2 Questions:

To load this movie I have to resize the size of the window a couple of times to start the movie. What did I do wrong, and also:

The photos have lines through them like static. What causes this? I made the movie first from home on a cable modem, and then tried it again from work on a T-1 line but I still have the static lines. How do I get rid of them?

Thanks!
