Hi Folks,
Relatively, new to the knife making community, but learning a lot, thanks to everyone. Normally I wouldn't probably even had enough time to respond to this post, but I'm laid off and spending more time cultivating my future....knife making.
I was drawn to this activity/lifestyle because I wanted to be part of something bigger than purely hedonistic en devours. Indian George has reaffirmed that inclination by memorializing his dearly departed wife in his/our cultural heritage.
This may sound a little deep to some folks, but think about it for a bit. We are a group/culture made up of many unique individuals. And the very definition of what a knife maker, purveyor, collector, enthusiast is or is supposed to embody is evolving.....culturally. All societies throughout the country, world, and time are constantly evolving in their cultural practices and traditions. Why should this community be any different?
Indian George, I have seen your posts, visited your site, and followed your advise. You are part of a community/culture that is evolving and growing and I am proud to have become a part of. Sure its fun to forge a knife and put your individual creativity into it, but it is done not just purely as a hedonistic activity.....rather a way of life?
Your tribute to your wife, through EDC + Sharing Video, is proof that you are not just forging for your own selfish purpose, you are forging toward the future of our ever evolving culture.
I think I made the right choice when I chose to become part of such a wonderful community.
Sincerely,
Bob
