This is the second version of my latest folder design. This one is dressed up a bit, and was a lot of fun to do (and hard to let go). The liners and blade spine are fileworked, and the pivot pin is hidden beneath the bolsters. The action is nice and smooth, it locks up nicely, and the blade centers when closed.

  • 3" blade, 7 5/8" overall open; 4 1/2" long closed
  • .125" thick blade, phosphorous bronze bushings
  • 154CM blade steel; Paul Bos heat treat at 59-61rc
  • Black G-10 bolster and desert ironwood scales over .063" thick titanium liners
  • Open build for easy cleaning

I'm asking $250 plus shipping for this one. If it's not what you had in mind, just let me know within 7 days and return it for a refund, no questions asked!

Thanks for looking!

I've tried a few times to contact Jim since I paid him for the knife, and I guess I'm doing it the wrong way. So I figure I'll try it here. All I really wanted to know was what a "Chela" blade was, since I cannot find any reference to it anywhere else on the Web. I realize that every craft and profession is filled to the gills with jargon - so it wouldn't surprise me if I was just ignorant regarding knives. But I was indeed surprised that even in knife-makers sites there is no reference to "Chela" Anyway - like I said, I can't seem to contact Jim - I was also hoping to find out when he's shipping the knife. I'll try to post this on his Web site if it's possible.

E-mail sent this past weekend, I hope it helps some. You are correct, SteelSnob- Chela is the name of the design and not the blade shape.

Hi Jim,
Still waiting on some kind of update on tracking information if you have it. It's been about a week and I haven't received the knife. But, you may live far from NY, which would explain everything. I'd just like to know where we stand if you have the info. If not, I'll just wait.
Thanks
Matthew

Got the knife today Jim - Love it. I'm going to keep an eye on what else you do. The work is perfect and a fantastic value for the money!
