I haven't been checking in as much as I used to--I didn't realize he was doing so poorly :(

Add my name to the list of those who have benefited greatly from Uncle Bill's stellar example in life, and generous giving spirit. I found Buddhism because of him and while I'm not a buddhist, its wisdoms helps me when I need it to. Btw, it was his idea that one should "keep what works and toss out the rest" that helped me be able to make use of buddhist ideas in the first place.

This place has also helped me more than I can say when things were bad, and this place, and those who call it home, are shaped by his spirit and guidance. Many of us are here first because of the kind and gentle manner that HI forum has, and second for khukuris.

Uncle Bill your great kindness and great works for the people of Nepal have certainly earned you a place in our hearts, and good karma I'm sure at the least.

I hope I get the chance to meet you in person, but if not, somewhere else.

Rob

Rob, my sentiments exactly. I have only been on this forum since January. I don't post that often because of health reasons, and sometimes I have nothing to contribute. While I'm not a buddhist, because of Uncle Bill and you guys, I have been reading books by HH the Dalai Lama, and learning about "Smoke". This has gotten me through some very difficult days. Uncle Bill, Yangdu, and fellow forumites, I thank you for this new enlightenment.
Prayer and smoke on its way.

I am genuinely saddened to hear this. I have only been on this forum for a short time, but have quickly learned to appreciate what Uncle Bill has built here. The reasons have been eloquently expressed in previous posts; I can say nothing that would improve upon it. I feel privileged to have made Uncle Bills' accquaintance, even if only through the internet.

khukuri in hand, screaming at the top of my lungs.

i ain't giving up,

are you?

Fight on.
Sometimes, after a good fight, it is time to quietly go home. Safe Journey Uncle Bill we love you.

It is very painful to read this thread.
My deepest wishes of recovery go to Uncle Bill.

Rusty?

Sometimes, if we are very lucky, someone touches our soul. There is no designing this experience, no predicting it.

We are never the same afterwards and they are always...ALWAYS...a part of us.

You got lucky. Be gentle with yourself.

(as did some others.)

Be well and safe.

Rusty, Kis is right. You can't predict. All those years you had were godsends.

You were there, we are here. You are lucky.

There are things that we don't want to happen but have to accept, things we don't want to know but have to learn, and people we can't live without but have to let go. ~Author Unknown :(

Bill has been a spiritual mentor to me, as have a handful of others I have met online, in the past seven years. I want him to have a healthy desire to live...but...I also wish him peace now and always. I reckon the peace is more important than the life, but I know I and many others have been so blessed to be able to share a little bit of life with Uncle Bill.

I know it sucks to lose those you love, but it only hurts because they've meant so much. Bill, if you're reading this, we love you. Thanks for all the good things.

This is one of the few times I disagree with my friend Munk. It isn't just Rusty that is lucky.

We are lucky.

To know them both as well as each and everyone else. My life is enriched by the lot of ye all.

He brought us together, and that was enough to be thankful for in and of itself.

What he, and we, taught each other was a gift of grace over and above that. He isn't gone yet, but when he does go he will be remembered. And we will still have one another.

Uncle, when you do go, you're in a lot of hot water if you don't remember to carry our greetings to Walosi!!!

being new here i don't know uncle bill as some of you do but from his posts and yours--i know he is a great man and i want to thank him for what he has done here--my prayers are with him during this hard time :(

His legacy lives on in the Himalayan imports archives here on Bladeforum. Check them out back when he was more actively posting, they are a real treat.

Of course this all goes without saying.. but we'll say it anyway. :) You've left a legacy very few can match Uncle, and one that anyone would be proud of.

Through this forum I've met many great people and found a home through my Brother Nasty. All of this because of Bill, the Kamis, and a few bent blade knives.

I pray for Bill and that Bill's legacy is carried on in the manner he would approve.
