I would highly encourage folks to steer clear of Cherokee Outpost an outfit that is both an on line and ebay seller. The ebay handle is The-Cherokee-Outpost.
Here's the story. In the early part of the month I heard about Camillus Cutlery closing down. I was a bit miffed because I had always wanted to get my hands on a Cuda Max and it looked like the chance of actually doing that was vanishing. Then someone posted here about an ebay seller that had two of them available at a very good price.
Then I did something stupid. I broke two of my rules. 1) If something is to good to be true... it probably is. 2) Do not spend more on ebay then you can afford to lose.
So I jumped on the ebay auction and purchased the knife at the seller's buy it now price. I paid for it immediately via paypal (this was October 11th). The seller's sales page noted that the seller would ship soon "ALL orders are guaranteed to ship within 24 to 72 business hours of receipt of payment." I figured "cool by the end of this week or early next week (assuming three day shipping from North Carolina (where the shipper was) to Alabama I will have my spiffy new knife.
Six business days roll by. Nothing. That's odd. I wait. Another day. Nothing. Hmm. Send seller an email requesting to know if the knife shipped. No response. Another day. Send email. Seller responds saying they will look up tracking number. Nothing. Another day goes by. Send another email requesting tracking information. No response. Another day goes by. At this point I start calling the phone number from the website. No one picks up all day long. Finally in the late afternoon this guy finally picks up the phone. I manage to keep myself polite and explain who I am and what I want. This guy then explains that he sent me an email (which I never got) to tell me that he only had one of the knives (despite two ebay listings) and that he will have some more by the end of the month.
Now I happen to know that the other guy that bid on the other auction does not have a knife either and I happen to further know that the chances of him getting another knife are pretty small as well, but I refrain from pointing those things out. Instead I ask for a refund, which fortunately he does do through paypal. The only problem is that apparently he does not have enough money in his paypal account to cover the refund so I have to wait three more days to get my money back. The money came through this morning so I am finally done with this whole disappointing transaction.
Finally today on the 26th of October nearly half a month after I purchased the knife I have my money back. To bad I passed up on that Busse Hell Razor I wanted due to lack of funds.
At least I did get the money back.
In summation:
1) Cherokee Outpost sells knives that they do not have
2) Their fast shipping guarantee is bunk
3) Their claims of good communication are bunk
If you like giving out no interest loans for 10-15 days buy from this outfit. If not I would say you might want to look elsewhere.
