I would highly encourage folks to steer clear of Cherokee Outpost an outfit that is both an on line and ebay seller. The ebay handle is The-Cherokee-Outpost.

Here's the story. In the early part of the month I heard about Camillus Cutlery closing down. I was a bit miffed because I had always wanted to get my hands on a Cuda Max and it looked like the chance of actually doing that was vanishing. Then someone posted here about an ebay seller that had two of them available at a very good price.

Then I did something stupid. I broke two of my rules. 1) If something is to good to be true... it probably is. 2) Do not spend more on ebay then you can afford to lose.

So I jumped on the ebay auction and purchased the knife at the seller's buy it now price. I paid for it immediately via paypal (this was October 11th). The seller's sales page noted that the seller would ship soon "ALL orders are guaranteed to ship within 24 to 72 business hours of receipt of payment." I figured "cool by the end of this week or early next week (assuming three day shipping from North Carolina (where the shipper was) to Alabama I will have my spiffy new knife.

Six business days roll by. Nothing. That's odd. I wait. Another day. Nothing. Hmm. Send seller an email requesting to know if the knife shipped. No response. Another day. Send email. Seller responds saying they will look up tracking number. Nothing. Another day goes by. Send another email requesting tracking information. No response. Another day goes by. At this point I start calling the phone number from the website. No one picks up all day long. Finally in the late afternoon this guy finally picks up the phone. I manage to keep myself polite and explain who I am and what I want. This guy then explains that he sent me an email (which I never got) to tell me that he only had one of the knives (despite two ebay listings) and that he will have some more by the end of the month.

Now I happen to know that the other guy that bid on the other auction does not have a knife either and I happen to further know that the chances of him getting another knife are pretty small as well, but I refrain from pointing those things out. Instead I ask for a refund, which fortunately he does do through paypal. The only problem is that apparently he does not have enough money in his paypal account to cover the refund so I have to wait three more days to get my money back. The money came through this morning so I am finally done with this whole disappointing transaction.

Finally today on the 26th of October nearly half a month after I purchased the knife I have my money back. To bad I passed up on that Busse Hell Razor I wanted due to lack of funds. :( At least I did get the money back.

In summation:

1) Cherokee Outpost sells knives that they do not have
2) Their fast shipping guarantee is bunk
3) Their claims of good communication are bunk

If you like giving out no interest loans for 10-15 days buy from this outfit. If not I would say you might want to look elsewhere.

Triton,
I nearly had a disappointing experience with this company as well. I noticed that they have an extensive listing of Extrema Ratio knives both on Ebay as well as their website. The knife I was interested in was listed on their website at a fabulous price; considerably cheaper than anybody else. I emailed them to confirm if one, they had the knife and two, whether the price was legit. No response at all. A couple of weeks pass and I decide to send the guy a message through ebay asking the same questions. This time he does respond and tells me that the prices on his website or not valid since Extrema Ratio had had a price increase. Interestingly, even though he tells me this the prices on his website did not change!! Thankfully I had not gone ahead and placed the order or I imagine it would have been a headache to get either the knife at the price listed or a refund. Glad you are not out any money. Take care.

Yikes! There is a new wrinkle that I had not heard of from this guy. I know of several other people however that have ordered knives that apparently he does not have.

Is his ebay feedback beginning to reflect the recent postings here?

I guess I can look for myself...

Starting too, he's got a couple of more negatives in the past few weeks. If this is his standard business practice I expect that he will get more then a few more. The problem was that apparently he must not have always done this his feedback was around 800.

After reading this thread I can only marvel at the fact that you left them positive feedback?!

Yeah funny thing about that, in order to get the refund this guy was insistent that we go through ebay's refund process which includes leaving feedback... and he insisted on seeing the feedback first. I probably should have left a neutral at best, but to be honest the money was still held hostage at that point and I took a slightly more pragmatic approach. You will note the comment that went with the feedback basically said that the transaction had been cancelled.

You can always go back into the Feedback Forum and leave a follow-up post to feedback you have already left.

The old rock and a hard place. Been there, I can understand why you did what you did. If I didn't say so before, thanks for the tip on these guys.

I bought a Becker BK1 back on Sept 27th, paid withing minutes of hitting the BIN button and waiting the normal week. During the same time frame I bought 3 other BT&K knives from Chestnut Ridge and they were here in a matter of days.

Sent Cherokee Outpost an email, then a second and made a couple phone calls....No answer to any emails or the phone calls....3rd email wasn't nice as I wanted an answer.....Ingorred. I received notice from Ebay that C-O had inquiried about personal contact info. A couple days later I get a call from Bobby at C-0 with the Email problem issues, to many phone lines too answer but we are here.

He told me they were filling BT&T orders sold on previous listing and were waiting for a shipment soon. Even after discissing Camillus current state of affairs he asired me I would have the knife within 2 weeks.

2 weeks go buy and I notice they have 5 more BT&K BK1's listed so now he has 5 sold previously plus these 5 so he must have received a shipment it would appear. So again I send email, 3 to be exact and nothing. Make a few more phone call and no one answers the phone.

I posted Negative FB and the 5 additional BK1's were removed from Ebay, along with a number of other BT&K listing. But no word about my knife, no communications awhat so ever.

So file a Dispute with Paypal....3 emails from Paypal to C-O go un answered so Change dispute to a Claim for Paypal to investigate and a couple more emails....still nothing from C-O.

Yesterday I get this and a request form Ebay to Withdraw Negative FB.

I still don't has a knife or my money back and yesterday I get this asking me to withdraw the Negative FB.

Hello, I am writing this email to let you know that I had expected a shipment of this knife and due to the issues with Camillus I was unable to get the order, I did not relist this item myself it is automatic with my ebay store. I cancelled it the moment it was brought to my attention. I am very sorry for the issue with your order and do not agree with business being done this way. I value my customers and will do everything to make them happy, if there is anything that I can do to solve this with you and withdrawn the feedback please let me know and we can go from there. Again I am very sorry for all the issues with this deal. Please email me and let me know if there is anything we can do to get this resolved.

Thank You
Teresa

Note the "I value my customers and will do everything to make them happy" when they haven't done anything in over 30 day.

As for leaving Positive FB on a dead beat vendor I think it is BS that Ebay even allows Vendors or Buyers that Do Not Take a Transaction Serious and complete it.

I filed a Dispute and then a Claim against Cherokee Out Post with Paypal and My Negative FB will stand. I am out close to $100.00 for over a month and they don't even respond to their own emails regarding FB let alone Paypal's emails.

If they hold you accountable to change Negative FB when you paid in good faith to get a refund FB the truth should be known.

I will gladly lose $100.00 to see them lose $1,000.00's, their reputation and go broke so as others don't lose their money...Just out of Principal, a Thief is a Thief regardless of how they candy coat it truth.

See post below and keep both of these up top to save others from losing their money.

Outfits like this deserve whatever bad things come their way. It's too bad that Triton felt that he had to leave good feedback so that he could get his refund.

In retrospect I should have at a minimum left a neutral, I don't know if I was justified in leaving a negative since I did in fact get my money back. However, the whole transaction did leave a bad taste in my mouth certainly. :(
