I posted this on the original thread, but didn't know if it was seen there so here it is again for those who might be interested.;)

center -- late arrival Christmas gift from Bura. Almost 20 inches and 27 ounces of perfectly executed Cherokee Rose. Great effort. Christmas red leather scabbard. Very nicely carved handle by Bura -- the two fish from the Tashi Dili. A true steal for $175.

The Cherokee Rose came today. Indeed it was a true steal!!!!:)

First impressions are "Very Nice!!!!" It most certainly is a beautiful piece and one that I'm pleased to have my name
on.
The carved handle makes for a very secure grip, but I don't know how it will feel when chopping, but then this knife maybe shouldn't be for such mundane tasks.(?)
The POB is about 3" in front of the guard and I believe it would be pretty fast for someone with a better arm than mine.
I would have liked the POB to have been closer to the guard so it would have disappeared in your hand, but that's mostly my fault with the design.
It moves pretty fast for me, but lets me know I'm not in good enough shape to play with it like that too much, something I will have to build up to.
It does give me the feeling of being a large energetic puppy such as an Airedale just needing and wanting to be trained to be a fine protector.;)

The blade is nicely convexed right down to the edge.:) It wasn't all that sharp, but that's easy to fix.
Short work with a good file tells me the blade is very nicely hardened all the way to the point!!!!
And the hardness runs back along the top for about 1 1/2" or so as well!!!!
This makes it nice for an extremely sharp clip that will be super for back cuts.:)
Just by flicking the wrist with a loose grip it changes directions lightning fast!!!!

I actually bought this one out of curiosity more than need to see if the kamis (Bura) had done the improvements I suggested.
Largely they (Bura) have. This is much better than the 1st one Bura made without being convex and I am well pleased.:D
The point could be a little heavier, read thicker, but that's the only negative critique I have at this time.
No doubt I should have made the model a little heavier, again read thicker, at the point then it wouldn't be this way.
Don't get me wrong, it's suitable for what a Bowie Knife is made for, but there won't be any stabbing into hardwood and twisting the knife out sideways with it.
But then I wouldn't do a dedicated fighting knife that way anyway.

I do have a negative comment about the sheath, but it's mostly due to my taste's. The red color is AWFUL!!!!!! :barf:
I designed the sheath to be straight down to the clip and then sloped to the point like most sheaths are.
This would've permitted the frog to be slipped off and turned to the other side for left hand carry.
This one is definitely at some time in the future, have no idea when, gonna have a brand new tan/brown nicely tooled sheath!!!!:D

Many thanks for good report from the field. Thank the kamis Christmas spirit for the red sheath.

An apt description Yvsa, anybody who's handled a live snake would know what it felt like to hold that 15" Bura Siru I had. ;)

Congrats Yvsa! :) Glad you like it, and thanks for saving my pocket book.;)

Congrats Edutsi:) That's a fine looking knife.

That leather is a bit loud, but the handle makes up for it;) :D Of course you could always wear it out on the holidays as your Christmas sheath---perhaps tie a sprig of mistletoe off the chape. And then if you hang it in the right place...:o :p :footinmou :D
