Cherokee Rose for 6/24

Thank you Wolf_1989 for the info... it is the circumference that causes issues for my short fingers, many of the grips are too thick and give the feeling that the Khuk could go sailing thru the air after a bit of fatigue sets in!

Try holding it with the habaki part of the bolster pinched between your index finger and thumb. It gives you a pretty good grip on a fatter handle yet still gives the khukuri plenty of 'snap'.

I've developed three different hand placements for using a khukuri. It depends on what style/size/weight khukuri I'm using, and what sort of target I'm using it on.

When you get it could you please give some feedback about grip size? A photo of it in hand would be great too.

Having only medium sized hands I find many of my HI blades grips to be on the large side. Snipped for brevity

BC it took me damned near a solid year to get the handle on the Bowie to exactly the way I wanted it and so it would, hopefully, fit most everyone.;) :)
I used to think I had large hands until I started hangin around the HAM Fisted sized guys here on BFC and in the HI/Cantina Forums  ;) and I found out I only had medium to small hands after all.:o
I'm not really totally sure but it sorta looks to me the YCS Bowie of "Today" has sorta succumbed to the kami's artistic license as it doesn't appear to me that the bottom guard is quite as long as it used to be but I haven't taken mine outta the safe to be absolutely certain.:o :(

I prefer these handles to be smooth wood or horn so as to not develop any hot spots on the user's hand/hands while at home....
the chipped carved handles although pretty tend to create "hot spots" on certain areas of my hands. The handle's made so that when the user chokes up on it the knife is near neutral in balance and holding the handle towards the end has the opposite effect thereby making this Bowie a much better chopping tool. ;) :D

I am so heartened to find out I am not alone with my small/medium sized mitts!

Your time spent refining the multi-use handle also created a work of art to the eye as well.

Another one added to the must get list!;)

(It already has a cousin here after the YCS Karda arrived last week.:D)

I have little girl hands:o:(:grumpy:

I must be lucky, most handles fit me and a Glock feels perfect in my hand, but so does a 1911. A lot of my friends find that odd. :)

I find the grip on a Cherokee Rose to be on the small side as far as circumference goes. Not tiny, but smaller than what I normally go for. Since I'm one of those guys with big, ham fists, a person with regular to small hands should have no problem with it.

For some reason, both feel great in my hand as well.

I share your embarrassment, sadness and grumpiness. ;)

Folks just don't realise how hard it is getting a correct fit ... and I have not mentioned how much a problem it is in relation to handguns!

That's why I usually prefer revolvers. About the only auto that doesn't feel like a fence post is my Browning Hi-Power.

Hmmm...never handled one of those. Sweet lookin pistol. Yet another thing to add to the list. Thanks, fellas.

Sorry for taking this OT to begin with, but the CZ75 was the only large capacity 9mm that I could grip comfortably and as a bonus the one I fired shot very tight groups with its owners custom handloads, and it remains the only 9mm I would immediately buy without hesitation or concern it I was able.

The new CZ 75 SP-01 Shadow http://www.czub.cz/index.php?p=32&idp=1&ids=3&idz=208&lang=en looks interesting too. :D

But to put in back on track, I ordered a Cherokee Rose to be made by Murali Kami. It will be an interesting few months awaiting its arrival. :D

I have large hands, and my one khuk so far, fits well. It could be a half inch longer and I think it would fit perfect...the pommel digs into my hand occasionally.

A Glock feels like holding a brick in my hand. It's not that it's too big, just strangely angled and shaped. A Smith&Wesson M&P fit well, but the one that made me say "Wow!" was the Springfield Armory XD. I have the 9mm which is a 16+1 capacity. The XDm version is 19+1 and it feels great too.

Congrats on the Cherokee Rose, Bruce! Those are beautiful knives.

Thank you very much CRR.

I can not say just how easy it is dealing with Yangdu ... I sent an inquiry email, she then replied and I confirmed. No drama's or hassles. :D

I will have to wait because "It takes about couple of months to get this knife made" and the feeling I have is of pleasant anticipation.:)

Maybe it will arrive in time to be a birthday present? :D
