hello, i watch the other thread on how to cut a crotch and because of the size of my chainsaw and a semi dull chain -i cut the crotch straight down the middle, basically seperating the the wood. I cut right down into the middle of the V. these pieces are still wet from anchor seal but you can tell my original cut the pieces were not to bad, butthe further out i went, the less figure i had( in second photo)So the next time i get a nice crotch i will cut the V with the chainsaw on top slicing each piece so it retains its V shape. Hopefully that way ill have more pieces with good figure..--- just thought id share--thanks for looking--marekz

yes, if you cut the "legs" as if you were bridging the crotch you can achieve
better results., most times.
you still have some nice cathedral figure, the arch effect

nice color too

Man Mace, I didn't need to hear that! :barf:

Thanks for the post Marekz. Don't you just love how much there is to learn and discover with this knife making stuff?! If you haven't already, I bet you'll be working on getting some stabilization setup going on sometime soon too! I still have to get some pix up of my hack job on the mango crotch.

All the best, Phil
