Chestnuts Anyone?

Here's my Case Chestnut CV swayback jack (pictured with a red stag CV SBJ) that I touch up the grinds on and etched with ferric chloride...

...and a knife I made a couple of years ago for my brother using Case Chestnut Bone. I think I like the looks of the older Case Chestnut Bone. The color seems to be richer and deeper.

I picked up a Chestnut CV peanut a few weeks ago after reading jackknife's how-i-learned-to-love-the-peanut post. I like it. Very thin and sharp blades. Fit & finish is perfect on that little knife. I carry it in dress pants to church and I forget I have it.

I am considering the Chestnut CV Swayback next which is slightly larger but how is the blade and edge thickness of the main blade? Does it cut well?

I'd also like to note that it seems that Case put some small improvements on the new chestnut stockman over the 2008 stockman. The pen blade has a deeper nail nick (actually all of the nail nicks are slightly deeper) which is great because I kept loosing grip on the other one, and the sheepsfoot blade seems to be more robust.

I have a Chestnut stockman in CV on its way...
the price was right
I wanted one in Amber, but I have heard the quality is better in Chestnut

I will wait for a Swayback

My Chestnut Stockman in CV rarely leaves my side. It is my favorite knife right now. Sometimes I am sitting at work at my desk and cut sticky notes with it. :o

After having picked up a Chestnut bone peanut a month ago, I got a hankerin' (ooh a folksy word!) for another pattern in that bone and CV so I ordered a Chestnut bone Swayback Jack and it came today.

The bone is a bit darker on both sides for the jack whereas one side of the peanut is much lighter than the other.

I had to soak some Breakfree CLP in the swayback joints to clean out the polishing compound in order for the blades to snap open and close a bit better.

The blades on the swayback were evenly ground and sharp just like the peanut. Fit and finish was excellent! Very pleased with both knives. With quality like this recently, these knives should continue to sell well and hopefully Case can rehire the staff they let go if they haven't already.

Texasflyfisher,
those were some great shots of your chestnut knives! I just ordered one of those peanuts, and am looking forward to it. It is hard to beat CV, and the look of that chestnut bone. Nice shots!
